Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Straw and/or hay can get nasty if too thick and it's gets wet....ramial wood chips work way better at 'eating' up the ammonia/nitrogen.
I do use straw in the run, especially on ice/snow, and also mud/muck..... but only a very thin layer at a time.
Of course you need to address any drainage issues too, standing water is hard to deal with.
Ramial?

I do the same.

I have a 5 gallon water bucket iand only five chickens. It takes them a long time to go through that bucket. Should I be adding anything to the water to make sure that it stays OK?

you might want to only fill it half full and change it more frequently, you can add apple cider vinegar. about 1 Tablespoon to a gallon, I change about every 4 or 5 days but when we are gone it stays a week
I don't change my nipple waterers as often as they stay quite clean with a piece of copper in the water, the copper seems to work best in bucket style water containers.

You should be getting a full on copy of what they have. It's not like it's that expensive to print a copy of that file on the copying machine.

I agree, maybe we should start a petition !!
Yep. More specifically, the shade cloth that I have over the garden. And they have a bunch of other ginned up charges. All of which are criminal. Not just a mere "correct the violation" but a full blown threat of going to jail. Just like they did a couple of years back.
I don't understand why they are so hot on getting you out of their town, are you sure your house is not sitting on a gold mine that they want to buy cheep??

had 2 good rains this week, hope we get sone next week as I wont be here to water.

ducks are sweet, wish I lived on a lake or river, then I would love them

I agree with the wood shavings in the muddy run, and the gypsum, great ideal. the shavings break down and don't need to be removed. I also use hey in winter in small amounts

I know that I'm legally entitled to full copies of what they have. But...

The best I got from the appointed attorney is that he will review what is in the file and let me know what is there. He wants to come to my house soon to compare the property to what is on the list. I hope I can have a few third party witnesses here at the time. I'm not sure I completely trust someone hired by the judge. This used to be a nice town to live in.
Sounds to me like you should stick that court appointed lackey's tie into a paper shredder. Too bad he's probably a cheap weasely ******* who probably wears a clip on.

Hung the nest boxes in the new coop today and got a few of the perch steps they would want for that. along with the ramp to the pop door as well. I just need to get some branches for the roosts and I think I can start moving my egg laying flock into that one. Should make them happy to be in that one.
