Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Woo-hoo, finally getting rain! Only problem is that I'm losing my direct tv and coverage of the Olympics, not that they actually show much of anything on NBC that I would actually want to watch.

I drive all the way out to TSC and as I pull into the parking lot I realize that I left the 10% coupon at home. So I tried to sweet talk the clerk into letting me have it anyway. She wasn't having any of that nonsense. So I turned the on the Charm. Still no joy. Took Charm to the next level. All that got was that fish-eye look that women do so well. BUT! But it did get a second response. That response was "come back tomorrow with the coupon. I get off at 6:00 and you can take me out after".

I have a feeling that this could cost more than the 10% feed savings.

Bow-chicka-bow-wow!!!

Given that you haven't reported in on how the date was, it must have went very well.

to all the newbies!

Someone also planted a bunch of sunflowers around her coop and run for shade.

Yay! We got some rain... finally. What a dry summer!

Got some more today as well. Had to send Amy to my place today to close my window as I need to clean it up and Mom's still recovering from her hip replacement and it wouldn't have been good for her to reach that window. Its been 3 weeks and she's graduated to a cane now.

CBC for the win!! They do a lot more of just the sports instead of trying to narrate a story.

Grape vines get VERY LARGE and heavy, so would be a constant challenge on hardware cloth. Annual pruning required, and serious supports. Nice, though, and tasty. Mary

X2

I've got sunchokes growing near enough run to give some shade, bonuses are you can yank off side shoots for choocks to eat the leaves and they come back without replanting(actually you'll need to keep the spreaders pulled up so they don't spread where you don't want them)

I have 37 young roosters which is many too many. All hatched Easter through Memorial Day.

Free this weekend: several Appenzeller Spitzhauben (Silver Spangled and one project Blue from Phoredaburds) breeder quality, Black Copper Marans backyard quality, many LOVELY Easter Eggers and some not so lovely but good to eat. Some lovely glossy black roosters, bright white roosters, coppery gold and black roosters...

Also one 3 year old Light Brahma who has been around the block and is good to the ladies. He is a watchful but non people aggressive boy. His genetics are in most of my flock so I need to change him out.

I will give away 10, first "want" first saved.

Macomb County near Rochester, BYO crates (so many people forget....)

Free roosters are gone, plenty of nice $5 roosters left including the Spitzes!

Ducklings are hatching! It's been two years of trying to get momma duck to actually hatch some! We've lost two females to predators when they have hidden nest so well I haven't been able to find them. And current momma duck has been through four nests this year. The only problem with her doing the incubating is not being able to watch the hatching!

There are also two batches of eggs due to hatch tomorrow.:D

Agrees!

Two batches in incubators?

Free Appenzeller Spitzhauben roosters. One project blue and six or 8 silver spangled from Phordaburds, I am not breeding so not keeping any roosters. I do have hens and if someone is interested in breeding, I can sell one hen as well.

Two hens sitting, however I split one batch of 12 between the three broody hens. The second batch is only 3 Serama eggs. One hen has done all the work and today another has snuck in beside her and tried to steal the eggs away.

So far 7 baby ducks.

Also lost a Polish boy to a falcon today.:(
