Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

He will never be quality...you can tell by his orange feathers. I know the hatchery, they are not purebred BLRW but SLW x GLW - the orange color holds one generation.

However he seems destined for the freezer anyway...

Well crap! I have 2 broody hens and TSC has chicks. Plus I have a lone bantam hen that is shunned by the rest of the flock. She acted as a surrogate mother when the other hens were sitting on eggs. I'm thinking that maybe if she had a few chicks of her own she might be more content. I can isolate her with chicks away from the rest.

Opinions on this idea / experiment.

I've got seven new bantam chicks as of Tuesday; four Belgian d'Uccles, and three EEs. Growing daily, and very cute. Love the chicks! Mary
Someday I'll have Belgian d'Uccles too Hubby still won't let me drive that far to see you. He's no fun! I guess I don't blame him though 7-7 1/2 hrs round trip is a bit much.
Just sold my all my Icelandics except my favorite rooster. Too flighty and grouchy.... and broody (without following through to hatch time). I'm really starting to prefer my bantams. Only had 3 out of 10 bantam chicks turn out to be hens. I'm going to integrate them with the rest of my bantams this weekend .... wish me luck.
