This summer my incubator gave me three pullets and five Cockerel Chanteclers. I cleverly kept the biggest best looking cockerel, and here I am, wanting him GONE! Mary

Well it's official winter is coming. All of my water dispensers and spigot were froze this morning it was 27 degrees outside. Looks like I need to get a move on wrapping the runs in plastic to keep snow out and hook up heated water dish. I put it off long enough we're supposed to get a few scattered today and tomorrow is supposed to be yucky so I get to work in the dark again this year. Darn head cold set me back a few days .
I have another bantam hen wanting to set on eggs now. Ugh!!!! She's not making it easy on me to change her mind but I think this is a really BAD time for a hen who's never hatched to try and take care of babies. Am I wrong?

Froze here too ..... 24F at 4am.
Leaves are falling like mad!
Luckily I detached and drained hoses yesterday.
Pondsai had 1/8" of ice, but chicken water nipples didn't freeze, heater setup today.

Do you get cellular service at the new place? My neighbor said it was faster than local cable and cheaper, too, to just use his phone as a hotspot for his computer.

I can make and received voice and text on my cell. Can't get data at all. I was just at the service centre and there is nothing they can do. They could build another tower but I don't think they want to do that.

They neighbors really like to see my birds. They love how the big tom will walk up and display himself. The chickens seem to like it here too. They have started laying eggs again. Some are still in moult but they are growing feathers.

Questions for those who feed cat food for extra protein during moult. Do you use wet or dry cat food?

My chickens will nibble at the dry stuff but go nuts for the wet food.

Glad that I got the bulk of my winterizing done. Mom got a call on tuesday and her surgery is getting bumped up from the wednesday before thanksgiving to next monday. kinda threw a wrench into my schedule. I had just ran into one of my favorite clients' mom at the Mall and talked her into calling the office to book the last slot that I had available on that monday. Anyways, opted to come in on Sunday and held that day for my monday clients to shift over and most of them are now on Sunday. Just going to make for a long weekend and week next week. But hopefully this will help Mom out. Just kinda nervous about her going through it
