Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Raz, If you need a roo I have a 2 yr old EE that I want to re-home. When you come back to AA, we can meet up and I'll give him to ya! I'll try to get a photo of him for you. Let me know if you're interested. He is very protective of his girls.

Hey @aart think I could pick your brain about your run a little bit? DH wants to get all the materials for my coop overhaul while menards has 11% going and he's between extra work projects. I'm specifically wondering how your pvc holders for the EMT have held up. I'm also curious as to your opinion on whether or not that style of rafter would hold chainlink fencing running horizontally. I'm considering my options to use the Four foot chainlink I have on either side and using hog rings to tie them together to create the fold line at the peak. If I just needed to get a roll of Welded wire to make the sides that would save me quite a bit of money.

Surprisingly well.
I seriously expected the PCV to fail/crack between the pressure of the clamp screws and the UV and freeze exposure, but it hasn't. It's been up since Sept 2013.

Hmmm.... chainlink is pretty heavy, would put extra pressure on the PVC clamps. Don't think I'd risk it.

I re-read the adoption paperwork again. If they did test for leukemia and/or FIV then is is written in vet code. I'll ask the vet up here. He is eating and drinking well. Litter box gets used as it should. Both cats had a learning curve there. Probably because the pan is so small in the kennel.

I can take in a roo, Silly. I'll send you a PM when I come down next. It might be sooner than later. My tractor has been repaired and the shop wants it gone before their spring shipments come in. Thank you.

Raz, I also just reread the Huron Valley barn cat info, and I agree, nothing was said about Feleuk-FIV testing! I'm obviously misinformed, sorry. I just put in a call to them but had to leave a message. When I called to ask about these cats, I was told that they were tested, but that's not on their website.
It should be on the receipt if it was done.

Raz, I just talked to the person at Huron Valley who does the barn cats; they test for FeLeuk, not FIV. And these cats are exposed to each other while there. I'm not so impressed. Do have your new boys retested, for both. There's a combo test that does FeLeuk, FIV, and heartworm.
I also contacted the Capital Area HS, in Lansing, and they test for both viruses. That's where I'll be getting my next barn cat.

Hmm. Guess it’s back to the drawing board for me then.

I’ve got between 80 and 100ft of 4ft chainlink that i’d Like to re-use when we overhaul the run, and I’m trying to not have to frame the whole thing in.

That’s an option, but 4ft sides will make it pretty short. I’ll talk to the husband tonight and see how much new material/time he wants to spend on this. I can staple fencing on during the day while he’s at work, but I would definitely need his help with framing stuff up.
