Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

PS am really jealous of the Blehm's.

But am having a fantastic hatch with my new Incuview....looks like it may be 100% before it's over. All these chicks go to local farmette, and am now really pumped to hatch some of my BCM x CCL cross......gonna toss in some olive eggs too(EE derived so crapshoot but still).

I'm SO EXCITED you guys. This is right up there with when I hatched my original BLRWs (that the neighbor's dogs killed every last one of) excitement. I told him as much on the phone too...."I've been wanting to get birds [from you] for 4 years now." Even my husband, who pretends he doesn't care about the chickens aside from whether or not they are "doing their job" and laying eggs was texting me that he really hopes we at least got a pair of lavenders. (I will get where I want with splitting them to blacks if I have to though!)

My plan is to run 2x4s from wall to wall, and sit the luan (or whatever) on top of that, and then screw down a piece of 2x2 on each edge for a "lip" to hold the pdz. So there would be plenty of edge support. I am also going to check for a very small scrap of vinyl flooring that I could fit into these particular trays.

I like that bucket feeder aart
It's the bomb! They can still bill some out, one bird who digs and digs until bottom is filled pretty close to bottom edge of openings....SMH.
Here's the deets, two versions tn there, so read carefully:

The vinyl really helps I think, poops don't stick/stain.

X3 on the melamine/vinyl coating. Some folks cut open feed bags and tape them around the poop boards. And you will likely have lots of feed bags with that crowd to feed!
At one time I had the loveliest bantam lavender Ameraucanas - Raz remembers them I bet.

4 LF and 2 bantams lavenders. Eeeeek!!! 2 Black bantams (one has some gold on its face which I’m assuming is why it was an “extra”, and then 11 that are buff-ish color, and 1 that’s a light chipmunk-y pattern. I *think* that only the 4 are bantam size.

So, yesterday DH went for a load of hay from the farmer we buy from all winter, and he announced that he only has ONE more horse quality round bale! For three of us, ten horses total. :he:mad::he Nice to have one week's notice! In March! I'm looking at the hay site, and craigs list, and putting out feelers. Anyone in SE or SC Michigan have extra horse hay? Let me know, soon.
Thanks, Mary
