Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

No Silkies here! Sorry!

Happy for you Glad that you got the chicks! Hope they work out for you.:yesss:

I had the same issue with hay for my sheep this year. I get bales so I can handle them myself. It jumped from 6.94 a bale (good quality hay too), to 10.00 a bale for crappy hay. I ended up processing all 4 of my rams, and sold two ewes. I have a few more ewes to either sell or process to get down to just a small handful and I'll no longer be breeding Jacobs. :hit

I consolidated my coops, the hens aren't happy about it. I have the bad roo sequestered in the chicken run till I can send him to freezer camp. I should have done all this sooner but I'm a softy. :idunno

So, yesterday DH went for a load of hay from the farmer we buy from all winter, and he announced that he only has ONE more horse quality round bale! For three of us, ten horses total. :he:mad::he Nice to have one week's notice! In March! I'm looking at the hay site, and craigs list, and putting out feelers. Anyone in SE or SC Michigan have extra horse hay? Let me know, soon.
Thanks, Mary
Try this site:

Although my phone number and address are on the site (My father-in-law used to sell hay) even though no-one in our family ever asked for it to be listed on this site, and I've requested that my phone number be removed... So not sure how reliable the site is!!!!

Sadly, Bender did not return from the vet today. He crossed the rainbow bridge.
He was too ill for any hope of recovery even with hospital care. Feeling kind of low right now.

I'm off to clean out my big coop today. It'll probably take a couple of hours, and I'm not sure I'll even get it all done. We are assembling a materials list for finishing the outside structural stuff we need. I moved my nearly-toeless pullet to the "small coop" yesterday, and I'm going to give her a friend today before I move all the other grumpy biddies over there once we are ready to overhaul the interior. I meant todo it last night while they were all sleeping. I might wait until tonight to move one over just to make things easier. I'm going to coop them for a few days so they don't get stupid and try to sleep outside under the coop at night.

Sorry about your kitty, RaZ. That's always a tough thing to go through.
