Quick sketch. We are probably using 4ft chain link with an apron, and then “circus tent”ing 2x2 netting to keep owls, etc out. The run has no shade in the afternoon which was my only thought about leaving the sumac....there’s enough of it there would be some shade cover in the late afternoon.

Personally, I like sumac (Rhus typhina L. ). I would leave it and prune as necessary. It spreads by cloning itself.
There is a stand near me and I'm thinking about trying to dig up a few small ones and bring them here.

BIG LIGHTS GO ON with the sketch!!
I'd leave see how it goes.
What kind of netting, is the good heavy stuff?

I love the colors of the sumac and the song birds love it too (and the deer), but we have a LOT of it. I pull clones out of my flower beds all summer long. I have nothing to compare my netting to, but it seems sturdy enough to me?

So Hobbes, the alleged barn cat, isn't working out. The little rascal has socialized to the point that he sits by the keyboard every time I sit at the computer. I pet him , rub his ears and he purrs the whole time. `I think in another week he will be a lap cat.

Ah yes SPRING!! Spending the day bailing melt water out of the barn and watching the remaining baby chick. Could not help myself any longer and scooped it up and checked the wing feathering. Seems to be a pullet! If so, I have a special name for her. Here is a pic.
