Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Wood chips were from TSC. Bales are stored inside so they are dry.
Chicks were anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks with 1 at 12.
Lid is 4 feet long by 2 feet wide with wire on top and bottom. It's fairly heavy.
If there were any marks on the birds then they were too small for me to see.
The scene looked like Johannasburg. Just bodies and no disturbance. No blood, No feathers. No pieces eaten/removed.

If it was a predator then what kind had high dexterity and kills cleanly, just for the heck of it?

I'll have to research kills styles of chicken predators.

It still sound like a toxic event of some sort, but what?
Mary
I'll check with my TSC and ask if any of their other customers had this happen.
I still have the feed stored in a lined metal can. I wonder if I could have it tested? I'll go to the extension office on Monday and ask there. Water is from the well and was tested by MiDEQ for MAEAP verification. No E.coli. Just sulfur and iron.
Heat lamp was new from TSC. The box doesn't say anything about being Teflon coated. I don't think it is.

I need Scooby Do and the Mystery Team.

On the bulb - the question is if it's a rough service bulb. Many of those are coated and put off fumes that quickly kill. (So not the heat lamp itself, but the type of bulb used.)

Another thought - did anyone that is relatively close to your area spray anything on their lawn, gardens, for poison ivy, termite extermination, etc? I've also know folks that lost chicks from the fumes from a neighbor's yard.

Same bulb from spring, "Producer's Pride" red heat lamp from TSC. It's not a ruff service type.

No nearby neighbors. State land on 3 sides. Closest big farm is 2-3 miles south and they haven't fertilized yet. I don't know if they use Round-up or other toxic chemicals.

I'm kind of leaning towards tainted feed. Bought the last bag about a week ago.
