Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Don't throw it away. contact the store you bought it from, and the producer if it was not elevator feed. They should want it tested. If not, have it tested yourself.
Great minds, eh? I already have a sample in a clean jar to take in tom tomorrow.

A new theory just hit me a few minutes ago...Some sort of contagion? Virus? Or parasite?
The turkey poult died this morning. The carcass looked just like the others as far as body position. This bird was in the house with the other 2. If these last 2 die then I'll know it was not a predator.

I just got the turkeys within the last week or so. I'll go all Columbo at the store tomorrow.

I would be having everything evaluated, including having necropsies done. Your feed manufacturer may be very interested in this, and maybe the shavings supplier too. This is such an awful event! I wouldn't add more birds until this is solved, or at least some possibilities ruled out.

I have a feral chicken somewhere around the yard.
I found a brown egg on the ground near the old coop.
I'm guessing that one of the hens escaped the fox attack earlier in the spring.

SillyChicken and I have been trying to coordinate a chicken purchase for weeks now, and we just aren't finding a time to meet anywhere. I'm offering eight blue laced red Wyandotte chicks, hatched June 19th at Cackle, and vaccinated against Marek's disease there. It looks like one cockerel and seven pullets! I'll never get this from straight run again! They are 'extras' here, although they are really 'growing' on me.
Let me know if anyone is interested; Silly said to offer them again.

Worked yesterday afternoon. Before that I was working on the garage; grading the neighbor's driveway; scrubbing down the coop; moving heavy stuff around. And drinking beer. :yesss:

Been around, just not much to say.
Now that weather has cooled been getting some stuff done outside,
in short stints as the mosquitoes are terrible.

Egg production has tanked...hens stopped to molt and only 3 of 10 pullets are laying.
3rd just came on board yesterday.
