Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

First morning of 'no coat' chores.

I first read that as no "GOAT" chores.

I was a little bit late to work today because I was taking care of chicken chores at my house. I get to work and the first thing I did was chick chores at the store. :thumbsup

It's a good thing you're there to look out for the chicks. I've gone to the TSC around here on weekends and found the water bone dry and no feed in sight. More than once I've had to ask that the water be filled and waited to see it done. Would have done it myself if I knew where to get the water.

I guess every store is different. I've been a customer for many years. I really like the company and their values. However, I've shopped at at few that weren't always on top of things. The store I'm at is severely understaffed right now. It's difficult to get qualified help. That is likely the case for other stores too.
I told everyone that my priorities are the health and welfare of livestock first. Customer safety and service are a close second. Plus I do have some experience in nearly every department of the store. I think that is a big reason that they hired me.

Today was a good example. I treated a number of chicks for pasty butt that might not have been taken care of at other locations or even the competitors. You are not always going to find that. I find that my customers are receptive to the care that I try to provide and they are willing to wait while I tend to chicks first. I let them know what I'm doing and the reason why. (At least most customers get it.)

But I hear your concern.

The chicks got evicted last night. Helped the other coaches cement in the posts for the bases at the fields, reconfigured our back yard fence a bit because the dogs keep digging up next to the deck and the last thing we need is for them to compromise one of the footings.

It sure was a beautiful weekend! Got my flower garden cleaned up and new shavings in the coop. It was just nice to enjoy the sun and listen to the birds and peepers. I heard an owl last night too!
Enjoy today because it's suppose to be cooler for the next couple of days.

Glad everyone had a good weekend. Mine wasn't bad, it was nice to be outside.

I'm glad you made the call on the coon Raz, you did the humane thing. I know trapping has it's uses, but not a method of game taking I've ever been fond of. Regardless, careless trapping is unethical and uncalled for. Hope you don't see that again.

I don't see the harm in keeping numbers down with varmints, yes they will eventually show up again, but if you don't keep numbers down, that one coon, will turn into 20, etc.. Been there done that on the farm growing up, we got 20 in one evenings sitting.
