Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Happy Halloween!!!
It's still raining here, and some snow would be better than this cold rain. And I do complain about the weather ALL the time!
The coop is almost all stained and painted on the outside, and a bit of the interior too.
Sunday the peak trim will get finished, where I'm too 'chicken' to climb.
Tomorrow the stock tanks will be organized for winter, and the horses will move to their winter field (with the heated stock tank) next weekend. They are all chubby and furry, still eating pasture grass.
Only the most motivated (crazy) will be out tonight for that candy!

Happy Samhain.
Love the rain chime thing.

Is is cold and rainy here but the coop is bone dry inside. Radio is saying it will turn colder tonight and the rain will turn to freezing rain or now showers. Says to expect to see a coating of slush tomorrow morning.

The ground to the coop and garage is covered with fallen leaves, puddles, mud, Mud, and MUD. Not a good combination for an old guy with a bad knee.

Some wet sloppy white stuff here after the trick or treaters where done. Not cold enough to stick, but definitely enough to motivate me to hurry up and get the coop winterized this weekend. Just gotta get the horse trailer moved away from the garage so that I can park the coop there instead. Need to get my freeloaders on lights anyways.

This was from a couple mornings ago, sure wish I had gotten that shade cloth down...and hit it with the power washer while I had it here.
It bowed but did not bend the run roof mesh.
It's been raining ever since, today is the only dry day in the 10-day forecast,
hoping it dries enough to roll it up and put it away this afternoon.
I am behind on 'winterizing' stuff.

This morning I took six young birds to the auction, so that's it for this year. Down to 33 birds for the winter, a nice number, fewer than last year (48!) which was a few too many.
I hate to see them go, but five were cockerels, and life will be better for everyone now that they've moved on before maturity hit them!
Continuing to winterize between rain and snow showers today, and hope to get the rest done tomorrow.

It's DONE!!! Stain and paint complete, plastic up on the east and south run walls, bases for waterers out there, but not yet plugged in. Yahoo!
No new photos, the stain finished and the plastic went up immediately. It's all good though.
Horses moved to winter field, with hay. I'm not convinced that their stock tank heater is working, so we'll see this week. Otherwise, it's good.
On to the next projects!
Mary
