Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Had my girls all set up to work mom's weed overrun garden on Thursday. With all of that good cover I thought that they would be OK from hawks trying to get at em as its bit of a jungle that just kinda got away from mom this year. Friday night I got a text from mom saying that a hawk got one of my barred rocks from last year and might have been really close to snatching one of my white hens as well. Went and looked over all the girls that night, didn't see any obvious injuries to them, just kinda a big pile of feathers out in the garden. Maybe that one just was that scared when the barred rock got snagged that she just kinda instant molt, like how old cartoons would have them do. Anyways, the girls spent yesterday and today locked up, and hopefully that hawk has took off on trying to get a good chicken dinner from there.

I haven't noticed the migration of raptors this year. I haven't heard the owls hooting in the woods like seasons past. I don't know if I missed it or what. :idunno

It all went as planned, he went peacefully and is now free of pain.
The vet was great and I had a friend here to help bury him.
G'bye Buddy, RIP.

Hello Michiganders!

My husband and I are looking for 2 female khaki Campbell ducks (preferred 6 months or older) to compliment our male khaki Campbell as we lost our female last week. We don’t necessarily have to have khaki Campbell’s so female ducks are fine.

We live in the Ann Arbor area. Let us know if you have an idea to make our male super happy again. ☺️

Thank you,
LHS
