Got the hay done last saturday. Glad that's done.
I loved baling and stacking hay. Hard work but I thought it was fun.
That's looks like some fine hay.

Looks like surgery is imminent. I got a call from the thoracic surgeon's nurse today. Trying to schedule an appointment with the doc nest week. Then get scheduled for the procedure ASAP. I have an uneasy feeling about this. Mostly about what will I do to care for my critters when I go to the hospital. I had help from friends the last time. I'm too far away from anybody. I don't know what to do. :idunno

Some areas have animal rescue groups that are trying to help folks who are affected by health crises like Coronavirus. I think you would qualify for assistance from something like that. As Mary says, call the local shelter and your veterinarian, maybe they can provide you with some guidance. I sure wish that at least one of us was closer to help you out.

Sorry I can't help Raz.

Well the chicks started hatching last night. I haven't been able to see too much yet. I had one dead one outside of the nesting box, so I am nervous. I heard at least one chirping inside of the box later in the night. This morning it was quiet, so I don't know, since I haven't seen her off the eggs since I set her. I will have to see once I get home from work. I am figuring that hen hatched chicks would be quieter, since they don't have that lost feeling since hatch. I guess I have been waiting 3 wks., so what is a few more hours?

Waiting for chicks to all hatch does seem like forever! The nesting box, up above the coop floor, is hardest, because chicks can fall out, and mama can decide to leave with some, and leave others.
Good luck!
Mary
I use old square plastic buckets for nesting boxes. So when I separated her, I was able to put her on the ground level. I don't what happened to the poor chick. I just hope it is the only one.

I might have a possible solution...A guy at work is homeless and sleeping in his car. I told him he can use my camper and even stay st my place. When I see him again I'll ask if he could watch after the critters if he decides to take up my offer. The only hiccup might be his chemo treatments are really messing him up. Or maybe another guy at work who I have helped out with somethings over the last few weeks. Only thing there is his wife is due to deliver the baby pretty soon. I hope I get something figured out soon.

I did manage to get the rest of the shingles up on the garage roof. Maybe after work tomorrow I can get them nailed down. Sunday will work too.
