Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Of course is it much cooler up here, and we have had some nights into the 50's :(, and a few obnoxious trees starting to change color. Boo. I could use another month of heat.

Probably too late this year to treat that poison ivy anyway, Mary. By Early July it develops a waxy coating that prevents herbicides from being very effective.

Feed is inside all year around, to protect it from weather and varmints. Water is outside in the summer, and inside in the winter.

Had a few 50 degree nights here too. That wind off the lake can get damn cold. So far the trees are still green but I'm sure that will be changing soon. Boooo!. What happened to summer?

A nice day off for me today. Mid-80's and picture perfect. Trying to catch up on so many neglected chores but I keep getting distracted and/or forgetting what it was that I was just doing. Of course stopping to watch the antics of the chickens doesn't help.

Even tho I hate the heat, I have much enjoyed the cooler parts of this summer and was almost lamenting the passing of it....not many turning leaves, but the light levels and angles are fast changing.
The heat I like...the humidity not so much. It was mid-80's air temp here today but there was a nice off-shore breeze to keep everything comfortable.
The chickens are always a good indicator of comfort level. If they aren't heat stressed then it is a good day. Today they shared time in the shade and in nice sunny sand baths.

Good morning All!!!
I got my first eggs today!!!!! I am so excited. Can a chicken lay 2 eggs in one day?? Butterscotch went in the nest box twice So I wonder if it was her twice. Once she laid the first egg, everyone else came into the coop to check it out. It was so stinking cute. The second egg is a bit smaller than the first but they are the exact same color. Such a thrill to see these ladies grow up from little chicks.
Just wanted to share the good news of the day. Hope you have a good day!
