Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Was it a double yolk? Wow, that is a big egg.

I went out for groceries today and then couldn't get back up the driveway. I took the sled off the front porch and got the food put away. Then I shoveled tire tracks up the drive and spread ashes on it. Nope. So I gave up for a couple hours and let the sunshine work on it. Yup. Third time was the charm.

It's that "greasy" feeling slush that pulls you around. Even all wheel drive didn't cut it. I hope it all melts tomorrow before everything freezes solid again.

There is a doe about 15 feet off my front porch right now.

I have mixed feelings about this thaw. I'm certainly enjoying the warmer air but the mix of mud and half-frozen snow makes for quite a mess in the yard. Slips and falls are a real thing for me now. Had a couple of near misses while toting water to the coop.

I'm hoping that with the thaw that I can get the gate to the run unstuck from the frozen ground. It is frozen open so the birds have been free ranging for weeks no. I don't mind that so much but a few hens are laying any place they find suitable. In the run. By the wood pile. in the shed. Under the porch. :barnie

Anyway, I'm going to try to make the best of the day and get some things done.

I thought you had a walkway made of pallets?

Wow, is it windy right now! That 40 degree air will help melt the now very heavy snow, that's for sure.

RaZ, I hear ya about slips and falls. I broke my wrist 6 years ago with a slip and fall. Now whenever my footing slips, I get a gut clench reaction. Please be careful, buddy.

The Lowell TSC has chicks now. They said they can't take my name and call me when they get Blue Australorps, because they would have 500 people they'd have to call. But I can call them, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. They get their chicks from Townline, so I'll look to see when Townline might be shipping Blues.

I'm proud of myself. Not only did I not BUY any chicks (well, they only had straight run; not doing that again!), I spent less than 5 minutes looking at the adorable little flufferbums!

Don't rag the man, @aart, it ain't nice. Guess how many projects we didn't get done last year? And I stopped working in mid-March, and thought that I'd be doing so much in all that free time. Sure. Didn't happen.
Now we're planning some home projects, al to be done by other folks. 'Do it yourself' is done...
Mary
