Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I read a book recently that I thought was amazing - One For the Blackbird, One For the Crow. Historical fiction set in Montana, it was so well written and a good story, but it was also unusual and fascinating.
Interesting, what was it about like a little bit of the plot. Don't want you to have to spoil it but it does capture my attention

Anyone got any good books they could suggest. I've been doing a lot of reading lately and need some new material :)
What do you like to read about? Books, I need to get rid of books. Have to many and not enough space. Maybe since I became Bob the builder, I can build a big wall to wall ceiling to floor book case, lol

Fever is a good Science Fiction book. Author is John Cook. It is about a doctor who is faced with an illness and his family and secludes himself and tries all kinds of formula on himself first to try to save his family. It is very intense and I picked it up and I stopped when I arrived to South Korea, 16 hours later.

Do you like John Grisham line of writing? Do you like simple romance or heavy romance (50 shades of whatever), Fantasy, Historical, It all depends on what you enjoy. I have lots of books for real. From Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer and you have no idea how many. They are a teacher's stash, 🤪

Here are 4 totally different (from each other) books that I read that I REALLY enjoyed.

Ella Minnow Pea, by Mark Dunn
The Bees, by Laline Paul
The Naturalist, by Andrew Mayne
The Good Liar, by Nicholas Searle

I read a lot of books on my kindle. Each of these, I read a few pages and was hooked by the writing style.

Ella is one of the most inventive and clever books I have ever read. I have written a novel (nope, not published), and word craft is something I aspire to, so that book made me stop and reread several sentences. That, to me, is the mark of a VERY good writer. Give me a writer with a good style and voice, and I will read just about anything they write, no matter what subject.

It is about two families in crisis who have to rely on each other at a time of pioneering when people were very isolated. There are some interesting and unusual elements to the main character.

Another book you might consider if you have not read it yet is Watership Down, which I quite honestly believe is one of the best books ever written.
