Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@Dreamzchaser , nice build BUT your hardware cloth is not secure enough! Add boards, 1x4's will do, over the top of the framing and hardware cloth with screws. And where you've done that weaving, you should have framing then add that board and screw it all together, the hardware cloth sandwiched between the wood.
We also added 2"x 4" woven wire over the lower 4' of our small roofed run area. Can't have it too safe!

Sorry, now I see you are doing the skirting, not the run or windows, sorry. We did the skirting too, much later, and ran the hardware cloth horizontally so there were only seams at the corners. It is a pain to handle!

Thank you so much Mary. I am planning on the sandwich thing but right now there is no coop. :idunno No matter how much I explain to my DX he wants to do his thing. It has been a pin trying the rafters. Neither have done that before but You tube has it all wrong.

I agree, instead of attaching fencing to wood with fence staples (I always whack myself with the hammer when using those) it is far easier to use screws, with washers too large to go through the fence openings. Very easy, and very secure.

For attaching fence to other fence, you can use fencing rings, often called hog rings. Overlap the fencing 3", and use the rings along the outside edges of each overlap. You squeeze them closed with hog ring pliers

Hi there! Nothing much was done yesterday. Finished painting the last wall that was done and still another side needs to be up. We tried this rafter stuff and it was a full and another half of a headache. We were able to cut only five because I had to go to HD to get more 2x4's. Anyways, we stopped by 130pm because it was going to rain and then it never did. It was so sunny but we spent about 30 min trying to tarp as much as possible to protect from water that we never went back outside. Today Sunday, I am really not planning on doing anything but I might change my mind and see if roof can be finished. That way I can rest during the week and figure out on windows and doors. I still have to weave out more hardware cloth that by mentioning that word, gripes me. It is so hard to work with. No picture from yesterday but will put some later on so I can get your advises. Thank you.

There are two does walking through my front yard, maybe 20 feet from my front porch.

I'm hoping for some sunshine today. Didn't get anything done outside yesterday at all. Did get an extra 4 hours of sleep though. :thumbsup

Need to get another coat of paint on the wood for the coop add-on. I guess it doesn't have to be sunny; just dry.

But we really do need some rain...

Another good freeby score today. Vendors own all of the plants we sell. It is up to them to rotate dead or ugly stock off the sales floor. This vendor offered me some of the stuff he was going to throw away. Tomatoes, strawberry, peppermint, some herbs, and pet grass.
The pet grass was a great score according to my cats who took to it right away. Even my nibbled on some of it.
