Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My land is 7 acres of old woods. The only cleared area is along the power lines at the south side of my property. That is the border with 2102 acres of state hunting/recreation land. Within that is a 119 acre lake. So leaves are a constant. :gig But I love this place.

Like waking up to a flock of ~15 turkey in the yard. They calmly walked back into the woods when I let the chickens out.
Today is Opening Day and I haven't heard a single shot. Heard lots of gun fire from the waterfowl hunters over the weekend.

I've heard a few shots. I got out my orange vest and hat for the morning walksie.

Just about time for a trip to Meijers. So glad I'm not tied to going on the weekends any more. I've talked to some of the cashiers. They have had stuff thrown at them, been grabbed by the arm, and one got sprayed with bleach. (!)

Whenever I go to any store this time of year, I take my patience with me. I know everyone there is stressed, and I want to be the "nice customer" who smiles and is easy to work with. I've worked retail, and rude customers are horrible. And wow, are they rude now.

When I worked I had quite a few rude interactions with people. I tried to be patient, you can never tell what person is unhinged enough to act out more severely and as I am a stout 5'1 lass it's too risky. I also tried to be patient as you never know when someone is dealing with issues either at home or mentally.

Podiatrist says that I definitely need surgery. MRI showed ruptured tendons. Surgery is difficult to do and I'll have to be completely off my feet for 2 weeks minimum. Sounds like an interesting procedure though.
We are going to wait until I get the info on the knee replacement.

On the way home I saw another bald eagle. This one was perched in a tree. Also saw 3 deer. Still no shots heard here. A few trucks coming and going on the state land.

Do tell what sort of procedure it is? I find medical stuff absolutely fascinating.
Hope it'll be an easy recovery, sitting isn't easy, I know but it's necessary for healing.

She says it is the most difficult surgery she does. Reattaching the ruptured tendon to the toes. Enters from the top and sutures tendon back on the bottom. She has to remove the bone(s) for access. Needs to be done on 2 toes.
