Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have been using a CBD lotion from Lume on my fingers for arthritis and one ankle for tendonitis in the heel. One thing I am finding is that while my fingers still are very cold, I no longer have the painful burning from circulation issues. I use a tiny bit twice a day and massage it in.
I'll have to look for that and give it a try.

I also read it here at BYC on how to care for chickens in the winter by Manna Pro.

Yeah, I just read that article too. :hmm It seems like Vaseline would prevent frostbite, in theory, at least to me. Thick, waterproof stuff coating delicate skin...

Like what I read in grade school about Eskimos putting whale blubber on their face to prevent frostbite.

Does anyone know why it doesn't work, or is it that it just. does. not. work? I'm not trying to be argumentative, just wondering.

At a guess, tall single combs and large wattles are far from the body, so adding vasoline is just not enough to matter, given the distance blood has to travel to warm those appendages.
Also, rubbing cold body parts is not helpful, if done when frostbite is actually starting to happen.
Cold climates are best inhabited by chickens with smaller combs and wattles!
I don't see where vasoline would save my fingers without gloves or mittens either!
