Anyone wanting chicks this year? I'll be hatching lots, & if there's any breeds, or mixes you're looking for, feel free to ask?

Do I have any, or do I buy any? I think there maybe a typo.

I have a Marans mix rooster, I used to have a Black Copper Marans hen but she died of a heart attack last summer. I may get some Marans next year for breeding though.

Dream, why not a water softener? Or at least a filter at your kitchen faucet, or a Britta filter?
Buying bottled water would be my last choice!

Filter in the sink may help with the iron but not much withe the amount of sulfur.

Then you hear about what happened in Fllint and lately in Benton Harbor and it is scary.

Has your water been tested for lead?

The water from the well here is pretty bad and it smells funky.

Mine is too, I don't drink it but use it for everything else....
....coffee, cooking, chickens.

Do you own your house or are you renting?
If you own, did you have the water testing before purchase?

Own. I drink a lot of coffee and like I said, it bothers me to do the dishes because of the strong small. No, I did not had it tested before buying. Bad thing is that I am not planning on buying again to use the new learned skill,lol
I do not think they did but if they did it they did not mentioned it at all. But will see if I can test it myself. Once you call someone for something, they harrass you for ever to sell you something.
I think a new or deeper well might work but too expensive and not sure if that will work either. It maight be due to the location and being close to the lake? Have no clue.

Happy year of the tiger.

I'm quite surprised. It is still 40 degrees here. It rained for about an hour. The prediction for snow here is a mere 3-7 inches. That ain't nothing.

I worked my scheduled time yesterday and the team leader asked if I could come in today. Store management was worried about hoarders stripping the shelves ahead of the predicted "storm". So I worked today. After unloading the truck I stocked shelves with the groceries that are in this week's ad. Hoarder favorites like Pop-Tarts, soup, cereal, and of course TP. There are so many barren shelves in the store. We are completely out of many goods. Heck, we haven't had saltine crackers for weeks now. This supply chain shortage is real.

I'm plagued with flies in the house. I'm sure that dormant flies are hitch-hiking in with the firewood. There aren't many but they still annoy the bejebus out of me.

So how was your day?

Before I moved up here I owned a house that had a great well until somebody built a house next door and drilled a new well, forever after that my water had a lot of sulfur in it.
You can get filters that you put right on the tap which you switch on and off for drinking water that work quite well.

Thank you. Will look into that all over again. Hopefully this summer can give me some down time to do other stuff.
