Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have two roosters. I keep all of my eggs at room temperature in a basket on the counter and they are edible for many weeks. Eggs will not start developing into chicks unless they are incubated, and remain in suspended animation at room temperature.

Eggs that I collect in cold weather that get very cold I do refrigerate immediately.

Eggs that I sell are washed if needed and go into the refrigerator. Once they are refrigerated they should be kept refrigerated.

Scoot over to the the Chickenstock thread if you're coming. I explained the raffle if we want to continue the tradition. I posted what I'll bring. You don't have to participate but even if two people do it'll just be a straight swap, lol.
I just remembered I need to call Daron (Farmerboy) and let him know. He lives right down the road from me. He came many years ago.

We keep ours in the cellar just because. They don't go bad. Ours move pretty fast to friends and family. Ducks should start laying again soon. They shut down late fall until spring like clockwork every year. I have one lady that picks up a dozen every week as she can't eat chicken eggs. Long winter for her...

Woke up to just a light dusting of snow. Just enough to hide the ice base. Snow was on the north side of the trees so that moisture came down over Lake Huron. Kind of a dicey walk to the coop but I made there and back. I need to bring in more firewood today and get that birch trimmed and out of the trailer. I need the trailer tomorrow to pick up a bunch of pallets behind the chimney sweep shop. Again a great local shop to patronize. They let me make payments on the bill to install the new wood stove. It was a great price to begin with but spreading out the payments let me get the tires I so desperately needed. It was a happy coincidence that the owner was at the tire shop at the same time I was there. Neither one of recognized the other at the moment but we had a laugh about it at her store. So much to be said for small town life.

We only got just over a half inch of rain last night.
Garage door only leaked a bit, in a different place than usual, apron is covered with silt.
Not sure where it all went as I see no obvious flow patterns, but the under run is dry and all the puddles are gone there, coop path is wet but not squishy.
Driveway is totally clear. Whew.
Rain then snow to start around 1pm.
