Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It was another gorgeous day. Still pecking away on garden stuff. I got a couple of beds weeded, so those pests don't get to overwinter and get started early next season. I also dug up a bunch of grubs for the chickens. Wish I had the time and energy to dig up the entire perimeter of the garden and get all the grubs I can find.

If I'd known how warm it was going to stay this late in the season, I wouldn't have pulled up my tomato plants. I could have covered them on the cold nights easily enough. My neighbor picked tomatoes yesterday -- November 2 -- from her garden.

Meijer seems to be out of a lot of things lately. Vermicelli of any brand? Nope. The taco shells DH likes? Nope.

I had sticker shock on egg prices too, since I haven't bought any in about a year. The cheap ones that were $1.89/doz are now $3.59. We have about 3+ dozen still in the waterglass bucket, so I hope I don't have to buy too many in the next few weeks. It's 7 weeks to the Solstice. So, ladies, the Solstice is on December 21 this year. I'll give you a 10 day grace period. That means you need to start laying on New Years Day, ok? :lau
It must be a regional thing. I've unloaded all types of pasta and taco shells. We have overloads of both. So many at our store that we don't have space to stock them. I don't know who is in charge of ordering stuff but we have tons of food that doesn't move well and shortages of stuff that does sell. The big joke is getting marshmallows. We get pallets of that crap every day. Yet our frozen vegetable aisle is mostly empty shelves.
It's complete chaos in our back room. We are tripping all over our selves trying to find a place for the junk that we don't really need or have space for. Like the Valentine Day displays that came in last week. Gotta love working retail, eh?

We were out and about so we stopped at another Meijer store. They had plenty of vermicelli and the taco shells DH likes. I got 6 boxes of the pasta, and found out it was half off. 50cents a box. Yay! Disaster averted for several weeks now.:gig We have tacos about twice a week, and spaghetti at least once.

Hi, @SongsofLore, glad you stopped by. We have a bunch of regulars here, so pull up a chair, sit down, and tell us about yourself and your chickens. And dogs. And cats. And any other critters you have. :)

Last night I brought our new dog home, another rescue with a sad story. He's a sweetheart, at least so far. Health issues, not totally house trained, and not yet neutered. A typical story, will be interesting. Our (slightly) older dog is thrilled though, it's going to be fine.
This made me smile. Post pictures when you have them. :love
