I'm happy to let someone else do the shoveling. Most of my run is not useable at this point. All the snow we got last week is as hard as ice and can't be shoveled. DH keeps it plowed out to the coop and the chickens have given up on the run and taken to where the yard is plowed. I just came in from taking care of them and spoiling them with scatch laced with BOSS. This afternoon I have the heart and liverp from the last deer to thaw and cook up for them. At least try to fatten them up.

While watering the new girls today, our lab went playing off in the woods behind the house. I whistled for him to come back a few times, and was surprised to be answered by a very silly sounding crow from the chick's coop! It sounded a bit like a party favor. So I whistled again, and he answered again.

My boys are growing up! Won't be long now and all 5 of them will probably be crowing their fool heads off!

Of course, when I went into the house and got the kids to shut the wii off and come over to the window, he refused to answer my whistles. Not to worry though, I'm sure we'll get all the crowing we can stand soon enough!

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth yet.
December is always busy here, I started a turkey housing before winter hit but now it's side-tracked till weather warms up.
Hope ya'll survived Christmas, I did.
Watching the days grow longer now.........toodles.

I got 4 seed catalogs yesterday, has any one ordered from Shumway's? there prices are good and the post is the lowest so far

I have their cataloge too. I have never ordered from them though. I won't be planning a garden this year.

Thanks again for the compliments on the silkie cake. I told my boy, that the next time he wants a chicken, it better not be a black silkie. LOL I was fun to try doing though.
