Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Are you going to CS? If so... I will want a girl from you... by then you will be able to tell for sure who is what, right?
And how much do you charge?
Yes, I always plan on attending Chickenstock :) I usually charge between $5-$15/bird. (chicks are $5)

Any critiques?

She looks to be of good quality. Probably high breeder quality. We raise cochins and we have a pair of barred and our hen got best variety at the last show she was at. If you ever want anymore cochins, we raise blues, blacks, splash, mottled, barred, and millie fluer.

So, I am planning to build a hoop house/ high tunnel green house this late winter to start plants in...I am wondering if that would work also as a chicken coop, I would build it so that the bottom three or so feet would roll up for ventilation... My thought is that by doing this it would make sure that they get all the possible light because it would pass through the plastic... any thoughts?
We did a hoop house for our chicken run. We covered it with greenhouse plastic in the winter and it was so nice to have the snow just slide right off. Here is a link showing pictures of what we did https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/386902/we-gave-the-chickens-our-bedroom-pic-heavy

Thanks guys..was told she was breeding stock, not hatchery. I'm looking into getting into some light Cochin breeding for me, a couple younger cousins and eventually my son to show...and I'm in the market for more!

Eloise - is a beautiful name. we had a show cocker pup and her call name was Eloise. She was so energetic it morphed into "Ella- Whiz,"

You know, I'd never expect to have problems with rabbits in the winter time, since most issues with them are gardening related.

They've been taking shelter under the deck. But to get there, they chew through the lattice around it. Almost every day I find a new hole they've gnawed. Not to mention, one of my dogs has managed to kill three of them recently (and there are still more). You see, our dog area is attached to the back deck, so we let them out the back door to potty, the dogs run down the stairs and into the fenced in grassy (snowy) area. Apparently the wild rabbits aren't afraid of an area that smells like dog, because they meet their doom to a beagle mutt in seconds.

Can I livetrap the varmints? Then dispatch them? I mean, they aren't predatory so I'd feel badly doing so. But they have caused damage. Plus, better a .22 to the head than death by dog, since there is an established pattern of them being brainless and going into the fenced in dog area.
