Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'd like to believe what the neighbour says, I really would. But I saw these dogs up close from our deck, and it was obvious they hadn't missed many meals. They were killing for the sport of it. I hope they do surrender the dogs and are placed with responsible owners
In that case, considering that you have kids, I'd give the roaming dogs a chance.
A chance of .38 or .45 if they are in your yard.

I used the chicken boards for some of my grad school projects. Gave me a good excuse for surfing the forum.

Oh, the internet has given me access to all kind of people, and how minds that are different than mine work. But I could never ask any of my internet pals to let me help them with their "mental health oil changes." ;)

Yesterday in class, we talked for 5 hours about suicide assessments and involuntary hospitalizations. After that, it was nice to come home to feed chickens and weed the gardens.

My paperwork is done for the night. Now I'm here AND reading up on powdery mildew on lilacs.

Elliemae - I'm so sorry.

Amy - I once did a whole semester long English project on the language of MMORPG players (1337 speak, anyone?) so that I had an excuse to spend all my time playing video games.

Actually, it went really well, hehe. After spending 18 years of my life in school, I think I eventually got the idea right by the last semester before dropping out, when I finally realized that by making my work things I enjoyed doing, I stopped doing anything I could possibly do aside from the work I was required to do.

Quote: I love this! That's what I'm hoping to do... right after I'm done jumping through school hoops. 1337 would be hard. Mr. Chaucer and his Tales wrecked me. I'm impressed with your project, Juise!

Okay, so powdery mildew and chickens....
Our ladies sit under a lilac when they're out in the yard. This one doesn't have the fungi, but the plant 20 feet away does. The chickens love to eat the low lilac leaves. If they happen to digest any of the fungi, will they be harmed?

Thank-you for your insight Raz. I guess We'll see how it all shakes out tomorrow. I just want to have all my ducks in a row for the officers report. I took lots of pictures during and after so there's no denying what happened. I want to be civil about the whole mess, but I don't want to give away the farm either.

Good luck tomorow. I hope your photo do well to protect you, your children, and your animals.

So maybe chickens can be therapy animals to counteract depression and suicidal thoughts? There might be a paper there.

Best cure for powdery mildew on lilacs is to cut out those ugly weeds. Just my opinion. And just stirring the pot a bit.

Lilacs are weeds.

Coffee is brewed, crossword puzzle finished, another day is underway. Several pages back folks were talking about gardening. Mine has had mixed results this year. I planted mustard twice only to have it not emerge. The pole beans, cucumbers, and peppers haven't down as well as last year, but my tomato plants are huge. The cherry tomatoes have been producing for about two weeks are we can hardly keep up with their output. The roma tomato plants are loaded and once they ripen it will b a busy couple of days.

Someone mentioned that their romas weren't very juicy and were ripening very slow. A roma isn't supposed to be juicy. It is was developed for the making of sauce or pastes so you wouldn't want them to be juicy.

The rate at which tomatoes ripen depends upon whether it is a determinate or indeterminate type. Determinate tomatoes like romas will all ripen at once which makes them ideal for canning. Beefsteak type tomatoes ripen over an extended time which is better for providing fresh fruits for eating fresh.
