Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Stacy sorry about your girl. I was just looking at pictures of a friends new lambs and wondering if you have baby goats coming soon?

My goatie girl Yoko is due on the 8th of March. That is her day 145. Hooves may be on the ground a few days before that, or after! I am setting up a wireless security camera in the kidding stall so I can listen and watch for signs of labor in the warm house. If the internet connection was better, I'd stream the camera online.

*sigh* I wish my doe is bred, so I can enjoy some babies too. Oh, well, I will have a chance next year. I hope that your doe have a safe delivery with many many kids! Awaiting pictures! :pop

Don't worry, I'm sure ya'll will get tired with all the pictures I will post of the kids and their mother!

Is your doe old enough to be bred? I am sure you could arrange a 'date' with a local buck for a fall kidding :D

I will not get tired of goat pictures!

My doe is almost a year old. I think that she was born in March or April. I thought that dairy breeds only cycle in the fall? She is Lamanacha Saanen cross. It would be great that I can get her bred to kid in the fall! But can she be bred again to kid in the following spring/early summer?

Naglady, I too am so very happy that you received good news. Having been thru something similar w/ DD, I must say there is no worry quite like the worry a parent faces when dealing with a child's health... I will say that your experience does underscore the need for every student athlete to get EKGs along with their annual sports physicals to rule out cardiac conditions that can result in sudden arrest. Spread the word to everyone you kno
So glad your dd is ok, very scary,,
Thank you nova at first i was unsure if he was serious or not but when it got worse when he walked, layed down, couldnt bend over hurt to much.. thats when i knew it was serious..I guess i was thinking this isnt happening, because he is only 16.. and the more he was symtomatic the more concern i got.

All of those jars of canned tomato sauce from all of those indigo rose tomatoes I was inundated with over the summer are coming in super handy right now in the dead of February. We're snowed in, school cancelled, kids sick. The chicken soup is boiling on the stove but I needed something for lunch, in a pinch. I don't keep Campbell's soups because of the MSG and salt. So I pulled out a pint of said tomato sauce, thinned it with some milk and water and added some onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and basil. Voila! Almost canned tomato soup but better! That and some grilled cheese sammiches. Great with a dollop of homemade yogurt. The kids gobbled it up. Well, as fast as their flu would let them anyway. Might plant some of those tomatoes again this year.
Gotta love when you have homemade canned goods to go to in the dead of winter, I sure hope you all feel better soon

I was selling an old jeep one time, and the first guy who came out didn't have the money for it, and wanted me to "work" with him. Um. Sorry, I can't do that. I would entertain offers, but the work with just doesn't do it for me. I would hate to have that over property. If you know you can't afford the cost, don't look at it to begin with. It is just rude to waste peoples time like that.
agree

Thanks Nova, and to those others who responded

Sorry you guys are all getting such muckle wather out there. We had rain today, and wind, but it's really very warm, almost 40 I think. I had to go and show a property - I wish folks would let me know before I make the journey that they can't afford it. I'm fed up with people asking me if I'll "work" with them. This is my job, just like other people have jobs. Sorry for the rant. It wouldn't have been so bad but I hate driving in this wather.
That sounds disappointing, and to me would be a waste of time, you could be putting more energy toward someone serious..
