YAY!!!

My Pilgrim goose laid her first egg ever yesterday! Seems like spring must be on its way.

That is cool Lady. I always love seeing chicks dancing in the eggs when I candle.

Congrats Maah, sorry that you are sick. Hope that you get better soon and your DH too.

My Embden goose "Samantha" just laid her first egg today!!!

Buff Orpington egg for size comparison.

Now, my turkeys should start laying any day now!!!
Congrats to both of you! Definitely a sign of spring when the geese start laying. Our sebastopols have been laying for about a week now and we have 6 eggs in the incubator cooking. tdhenson86, I haven't forgotten about your gray sebs. Those pairs haven't started laying yet.

Sigh.. Today was the day! I have the brooder up and ready. We went to Family Farm and Home and they have no bantams yet, "check in early April." I called Tractor Supply, and they had bantams, and some had feather legs, the lady said. We got there, and there was one with feathered legs. I think it was a d'uccle, but there was only one, and I wasn't aware of their hard and fast 6 chick min. policy.
I even called Townline, willing to make the short trek to Zeeland. But they don't have any silkies available right now.

Now, I'm pouting.

On the bright side, there are crocus on the side of my house, and both of our hen laid for us today.

Amy, our TSC had silkies for a VERY SHORT moment yesterday. I was surprised that they did. I was under the understanding that townline wasn't doing silkies this year. I could be wrong, but when I went there to pick up chicks early last month, they weren't on the incubation list... It would be nice if they did, but... we'll see. I am planning to steal some from RBahmer. She's got a trio of greys that are stunning.

First time in weeks that any bird decided to brave the great out of coop/run.

Wild turkeys... I can usually walk with in 20 feet of them, When they are very hungry, the hens usually come with in 10 feet. Does freak me out a bit, worry that one of the toms will get it in his head to beat me up! I kept the fence between us, but you can see how close... I was just at the corner, and my posts are 6 feet apart.

Hello my fellow Michiganders!

My name is Stephanie and I'm new to BYC and new to raising chickens too!

My husband Aaron and I just got our first dozen chicks tonight.

We are looking forward to this adventure. I'm sure I will have tons of questions from those of you who have experience raising chickens. If you're willing to answer them that is. :)
Hello and
welcome-byc.gif

Today is our 16 year anniversary. ...and we're both sick! LOL. It was kind of a wake up, give a kiss, say love you & happy anniversary, followed by a list of all our ailments and a "lets go get some cold meds, pain meds, kleenex, and some coffee" kind of morning. We both feel like crap, but it's still going to be a great day.

Happy 16th Anniversary hope you both feel better.. I have been married 16 yrs last October..
Just popping in to drop off a video I shot of my candling on day 7. Bear with me, it's my first time... I'm excited. Anyway, it's short, no sound but shows the movement. Buff Brahma egg.

They were included in the list that they emailed me. When I called Townline today they said that they had all been shipped out for the week, but to try back on Tuesday. Maybe when you steal RBahmers, you can take 2 extra from me? ;)
