Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi everyone, been busy with a week long party so I haven't been on lately. I have two partridge rock roos, one EE roo, and one Icelandic roo that need a home if anyone is interested.

a hundred posts behind- and no time to read and catch up this morning.

Good Morning Sam- Im off to work already.
My dog caught a opossum in the yard this morning. Im not sure if its dead or if it is playing dead. It bit my dogs face, my dog bit its stomach. I could hear the scuffle before I could find a flashlight. By the time I did, the opossum was lying still- covered in dog slobber-particularly its stomach- but alive. I dropped a cage over top of it. My husband will deal with it when the sun comes up.

My dog keeps licking his muzzle. But I dont see anything worth stitches and I am going to hold off on antibiotics for now.

You all have a great day!
No where else could I tell this story but here. Recently some eggs had started coming up missing out of nests that were scattered here and there around the inside of the barn. I set a small trap only to catch a small opposum. I told DH about it, waiting for him to come down and do any with it. When he didn't come down I decided to take matters into my own hands. I got a 5 gal bucket, filled with water and stuck the small live trap in the bucket, put some sticks there the wire sides and preceeded to drown the thing.

I watched as within seconds the bubbles came out of its mouth and it went limp. (I know this is awful but woman kill in passive ways). I left it there for quite some time and then finally took the trap out of the water and leftit on the ground for DH to dispose of the thing. I went about my business cleaning for well over an hr. I then noticed some movement and that thing had come back from the dead. If it was any other animal that was a pet, I would have been dancing and singing hallieuhah.

hen, about a half hour after we got home, a friend from work, who I'd mentioned that I was picking up hay to, texted me: "Did you lose some hay on I-69?" I replied, "Yes, details tomorrow." She replied, "I saw it on the Flint police ops" (whatever that is.)
You must live close to me as I may be headed to flint today for something on CL.

Does anyone have any Dark Campbell or Khaki Campbell duck eggs for sale? Prefer ducks that conform fairly well with the standard of perfection. I have Dark Campbells and want to add some diversity in the lines. Also looking for any age Pilgrim Geese. Thanks!
Check with www.zephrycreek.com. ellen Zawada hasn't been around here in quite a awhile but I know that she had some and she always wants to breed any of her poulty to breed specifics.

Is anyone going through Howell or Midland on their way to the North / NorthEast suburbs of Detroit in the near future? I'm helping someone find a Serama (world's smallest chicken breed) hen. Thanks!
I may be going up north to Lovells soon and could transport part way if someone wanted to meet me somewhere. I could then bring it here and put it in quarantine until someone could come get it.

Really? Does that work? I had no idea that baby powder helped!!! Weird. Is it just normal baby powder or one of the varieties with herbal oils in it?
Just plain old baby powder.

I cleaned the coop out and decided to put all the shavings and poop into the garden. Then the thought crossed my mine about poop, e-coli, veggies, etc. Do I have anothing to worry about.

Corn on left is my fourth planting that I did in late July. I soaked the seed in a mixture my daughter told me about that consist of amonia, tea and some other stuff. Soak 24 hrs , drain and plant. I'm thrilled with what I see so far.

Some of the best heads of broccoli that I have had.

This is the third bag of broccoli heads that I have brought.in.

Zombie possums AGAIN!!! Eeyore had them walking around her woods a few months ago.

Laura, thank you for the offer, I'm only about an hour from you so that would really help. I'll take you up on that if no one else speaks up. Thanks! Anyone else going through Howell OR Midland toward the N / NE area past Detroit (Macomb, New Baltimore, St. Clair, etc.)

However, I tried that website and it didn't work. I thought maybe it was spelled wrong, so I tried "zephyr" too. No luck. Do you have any other way to contact her? THANKS!!!

SETTING EGGS 08-27-12

I have a cabinet incubator and separate cabinet hatcher. I can set up to 300 eggs at a time. I have about 50. If you are in the area or want to send some eggs to me in the mail, I'll set them too. For more info, feel free to PM me or visit www.HensonAcres.com. Willing to set them for trades (if they are breeds that I want, I will keep a certain number of the chicks, depending on how many hatch) or, if you want to keep the chicks once they hatch, I usually charge about $1 each for chicken eggs and slightly more as the eggs get larger in size as they take up more room. Can hatch anything from quail to Ostrich eggs. Thanks!!!
