Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well I am using outdoor pvc to make my run, but it will be shaped more like a greenhouse. I will post pictures when I finish it.

This is how I am spending my evening. It is important to socialize chicks right?

Hi! Yes, it is hard to stop once you start; you think you are done then you see another kind you never knew existed..........lol.. What kind do you have, and what kind do you want? Come spring there will be a meet and greet in lansing where birds will be sold, maybe someone here in MI has what you want :)

so far i have "easter eggers" and porcelain d'uccles . One of my Easter Egger roosters is part buttercup too :) Cool comb. I have also had orpington, but my hatchery girl wasn't sweet when she got older; idk but she loved to hate me! I was the "egg thief" . ha! I also had a bantam cochin, she was a sweetie.

hi fuzzybut, my first hen i think she is a new hampshire red 2yrs old.., lays a egg almost every day since i had her.. and then the other 5 are isa browns.. I got the second isa brown 2yr old separate from the other 4, she lays almost everyday also.. the last four isa were farm hatched.. they are about 15 months old.. they were molting when i got them .. and now they are starting to lay.. except one i think she is to old to lay..I want egg layers.. really think the leghorns are cool, RIR, some sexlinks.. are on my list.. would like some barred rocks, there is so many breeds out there.. hard to believe.. before i started researching about a yr ago.. I thought chicken is a chicken, but now i know the difference.lol
I would like to go to one of the chicken meetups.. sounds like fun.

I like the easter eggers because of all the variations in color, and the blue and green eggs never grow old. I also like the marans, if you haven't seen them yet they lay a hershy chocolate colored egg! So pretty. I also had another hen that laid a pink egg! I ended up having to give her away, she was making this racket all day driving the whole flock nuts!!! I think it was this "egg song" i keep hearing about, sounded like a mad duck to me.

someone will be along soon i'm sure to tell more about the meetup, i forgot to jot it down on my calendar, oops! But it is a good time from what i have heard, a potluck and kid friendly :)
