Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well, my white rock in the basement seems to be all better! She's been on Tylan for about a week now, and I can't hear any rattles or rasps when she breathes. I'd like to get her back out into the coop with the others now, and I'm thinking that this week would be a good time to do it since it's supposed to be in the upper 20s and mid 30s instead of hovering near 0. She (and the 2 smaller pullets that I would also like to get out there) has been in the basement, where it's probably in the low 60s.

Will this move really shock them and likely kill them if I don't add supplemental heat and wean them off it?

You know you're a crazy chicken lady when you shovel out a big section of your chickens' run so that they can/will get out of the coop. And throw all of the snow you're shoveling over a 4ft fence to do so.

Congrats on your successful nursing! I don't think it's a crazy chicken lady....I would say a responsible and caring chicken owner. If there were such a thing as reincarnation. ..I want to come back as one of your chickens!

Heavy wet snow is not fun.

Howdy Y'all, I'm still around...been FREEZING in Michigan but it's it's a tolerable day eh? I picked up chicken feed from TSC and quilting fabric, still too cold to go out and finish that turkey coop but I did s ome poop scooping in the chickens yesterday. Hope y'all are hanging in there. Toodles from the Saginaw Bay area.....

Sounds like you need to remove the pullets...poor girls with so many hormonal teenagers. The boys pull those feathers when mounting them. Im sure they're all fighting over the girls and the girls probably dont get a break with that many roosters.

Ditto, Those cockerels tore my hens up till I got rid of them. Now, with only one male left, that does not seem to occur. Must admit though, I have not spent much time in the past two weeks out in the run. Also we just, two days ago, let the roo in with the hens.

I just took a circle tour out in the garden when I was blowing a path to the barn. Thankfully, I got a heavy duty two stage blower years ago, and it still works. I couldn't shovel now if my life depended on it. Get an MRI Tuesday. maybe that will help decide what to do for my shoulder. They only have 2 of those machines/instruments in Muskegon and they have appointments set up 24-7. Is that consistent with other town of comparable size?

Good to know I'm not the only one! However I'm lucky and DH plows in front so I don't have to shovel.

My DH has an MRI scheduled for the 29th - shoulder or neck pinched nerve. His left hand has been numb since Christmas and they are just now sending him. His appointment is at 8:30 at night because they do the 24- 7 thing also. He had one about 8 years ago and it was scheduled at 11:30 at night so this is actually a bit better.

How have those of you way south west survived your heavy lake effect? Some folks from over your way were supposed to be at the conference I went to and were snow in.

Taprock, I have also had a shoulder injury and I have had a neurological chiropractor and a massage therapist (with focus on lymph node drainage) work on it. It helped about 90%.

We don't have too much snow down here in G.R. but we are expecting a melt, rain and then freeze between Tuesday and Thursday (at least that is what the weather man is saying!).

Am I more or less crazy because I gave my hens a 10X10 pop up canopy so wouldn't have to shovel over their 6' stockade fence lol

I've been told my chickens are spoiled
