Well, my white rock in the basement seems to be all better! She's been on Tylan for about a week now, and I can't hear any rattles or rasps when she breathes. I'd like to get her back out into the coop with the others now, and I'm thinking that this week would be a good time to do it since it's supposed to be in the upper 20s and mid 30s instead of hovering near 0. She (and the 2 smaller pullets that I would also like to get out there) has been in the basement, where it's probably in the low 60s.
Will this move really shock them and likely kill them if I don't add supplemental heat and wean them off it?
You know you're a crazy chicken lady when you shovel out a big section of your chickens' run so that they can/will get out of the coop. And throw all of the snow you're shoveling over a 4ft fence to do so.
Congrats on your successful nursing! I don't think it's a crazy chicken lady....I would say a responsible and caring chicken owner. If there were such a thing as reincarnation. ..I want to come back as one of your chickens!

Sounds like you need to remove the pullets...poor girls with so many hormonal teenagers. The boys pull those feathers when mounting them. Im sure they're all fighting over the girls and the girls probably dont get a break with that many roosters.
I have a 6 ft fence..........Heavy wet snow is not fun.![]()
I just took a circle tour out in the garden when I was blowing a path to the barn. Thankfully, I got a heavy duty two stage blower years ago, and it still works. I couldn't shovel now if my life depended on it. Get an MRI Tuesday. maybe that will help decide what to do for my shoulder. They only have 2 of those machines/instruments in Muskegon and they have appointments set up 24-7. Is that consistent with other town of comparable size?
