I am soooooo excited! I am picking up my first incubator on Thursday. I have lots of ready to do before then. I can't remember who put the link to the 101 thread, but Thank YOU

so much. It has answered alot of my questions and concerns.

If you just want to check fertility and not hatch the eggs, you don't have to worry about tilting them. You should be able to tell by day 7 if they are developing. If you plan on hatching them, they need to be tilted regularly. Here is a great incubator hatching article by Sally Sunshine

Staci, sorry about your hen
Thanks 1muttsfan that the where i got alot of my info from. great reading and very explanatory

Thanks, all. At least I have other birds who are still healthy to look forward to each morning.

Though it seems problems like to come in groups. My kitty likely has a UTI. She used a bathroom rug as a place to potty. Last time she did that, a trip to the vet confirmed a UTI. So I gotta try and get a sample to them tomorrow. At least I have a short day at work.

My injured hen died just now. She'd been growing steadily weaker despite being given fluids and liquified food, and living in a brooder inside. She was such an amazing little Araucana with a lot of potential. She'd only recently laid her first egg (not fertile). She had marvelous, even tufts and was sweet to boot. And she was blue breasted red, so pretty!
:( what a pretty girl

Took the girls some leftovers from dinner. Salad, peppers and steak bones. There was some fat and meat left on a beef bone. Pretty cute to watch tiny chickens drag around big bones. That will keep them occupied for awhile.
