Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I had to go to TSC on Sunday for dog food. All they had were week old assorted Bantys and some ducks. This week some time the rest will come in. I am still waivering between getting chicks and started Pullets.

My husband is VERY slowly warming to the idea! Last weekend he asked me about my coop plans and said that I better build a little bigger one so that we don't have to expand again in a year LOL

Morning! Yesterday was wonderful! Everyone was enjoying the sunshine, even the 5 week old piglets finally came out of the shed and played in the sun.

Sorry Tap that you got vertigo. I had it a few times before and its not fun. I had it for 2 weeks, and lost 15 pounds in 6 days, and I was already thin to begin with. Blah. I just could not keep anything down. I hope that you get better quick!

Starbrightfarms posted some beautiful pictures of banty silkies, cochins and Russian orlofts on her Facebook page. I know she ships eggs also. She's in Brown City. Think there were some other breeds also.

I figured that since I haven't posted coffee for several mornings and the thread has been rather slow I had better try and get some caffeine circulating.

It also might be a good idea that if your coffee supplies are getting low you might want to replenish them this morning. From the sound of the weather forecast things are going to get a little nasty later today.

I did go to Tractor Supply to buy some ISA browns yesterday and found out that they won't be getting them until Wednesday. However, with the severity of the approaching I wouldn't be surprised if the arrival gets delayed.

Our TSC doesn't have them, but I made a trip to Indiana yesterday and just happened to pass a TSC on my way, so I stopped in and they had hundreds of chicks already. I almost came home with a box full. Good thing I'm practicing my self control. lol...

Dunno what this storm has up its sleeve but for all the hype, it better do *something*. NOAA only has us down for 3". That's kind of underwhelming. Time will tell I guess.

I agree. The hype has been non-stop. I was going to drive up a ways to get some chicks but decided to wait a few days.

I hope we do get some snow though. If not, I'm going to have to mow the lawn.

Morning everyone

tap hope you feel better soon,

good knowledge on brooder power outage.. learn something new everyday.. .. something to think about just in case.. should make sure i have flashlights, batteries and hand warmers ready just in case, I like to be prepared..

I was going to set eggs soon, but want to wait a few more days. i am going away st patricks day weekend and want to be around to see them hatch, I have the hatching eggs on counter right now. and have about a dozen of fertile eggs ready. I think i will put 6 in the fridge and eat them, and then just keep gathering them on counter, that way they are not that old when i set them in the incubator..

I am hoping the snow is done by thursday and road are clear, have to take my ds to cardiologist in saginaw.

I'm also hoping the snow ends before the weekend and allows plenty of time for cleanup. I'm headed to East Lansing for the Michigan State Rabbit Breeder's Assoc show. Not exhibiting anything at this show but I do have to be there to pick up a new Rex buck. Rabbit math is sort of like chicken math, I'll be lucky if I get out of there with ONLY the buck I plan on getting.
