The new girls adjusting to new surroundings. They're all preening now getting pretty!

Fingers crossed that you got some hens! :)

I met tjbeckman & lisa and girls today. Did some chicken swapping.

It's always fun to do swaps in the parking lots of businesses.

Sounds like some kind of a drug deal.
And we all know that chickens not only cause addiction, they are a gateway to <gasp> farming.

Well said Snowflake, I hope you have many good memories to help you get through the tough times.

I spent part of this afternoon cleaning the coop. I took buckets of poop off every surface. It has been frozen on for the past two months and REALLY adds up. I also took the spud and chipped packed snow/ice off the cement in front of the coop but didn't get it done. I still have the floor of the coop to deal with. Now that the shavings have thawed there is a damp layer on top that has to come off before I can even turn the shavings and add more. My dr. has instructed me NOT to do this without a mask because of what it can do to your respiratory system. Well I started anyway and then after a short time decided I will finish with the mask on this evening or tomorrow. I also discovered I have a mouse problem and will be setting a nice trap line this evening. I told my son I'm trapping to make him a mouse skin coat

and he was not impressed.

Huh, thought I posted before. Did I forget to hit the submit button? Anyways....

Snowflake. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's the hardest one for a mother to bear.

Mom, nice to see you post. I do so miss your stories. What cha been up to??

Beautiful day, hope you all enjoy!

Snowflake - thanks for sharing about your daughter. Your heartfelt reminder is a good for all of us. I feel bad for your loss and it made me think about my great niece. She is 14 and was diagnosed RDS about a year ago. She got a leg cut goofing off on the farm and didn't think too much about it. She didn't let on that she had a problem until a serious infection set in - kids! Her pain has been terrible and since the first of the year, she has had several surgeries to remove infection pockets in her leg. She current has a pic-line and goes for daily antibiotic treatments. Nothing much seems to work. Her dad (my nephew) leaves for Afghanistan in a few months.
