I told my son I'm trapping to make him a mouse skin coat

and he was not impressed.

To lose your child, no matter at what age, has got to be one of the hardest things to endure.
Taprock, children these day just don't appreciate what we do for them.

Sometimes just happens. I hate when it does. Hate even more when they get all the way to hatch day and fully formed, but never pip but die... That really sucks. Where a pair of gloves if your afaid of chicken kisses. LOL. I have learned to not be afraid of a peck, and I have had some that have left bruises. They are usually more vicious when the chicks are freshly hatched though. My girls all learn pretty good that I am not the evil monster come to hurt their babies. I check them ALL for deformities after they have hatched and fluffed.

Oh I am not afraid of "chicken kisses" she really don't peck very hard for as big as she is. I moved the little family to a 4 foot by 4 foot brooder it's in the garage with heat lamps, it's cold up here still. I covered it 3/4 of the way to keep the heat in I made a nice little nest she won't use, of course. I put her in a dog crate so I can get the chicks out put them in the brooder then her she went nuts!! Scratching the wood chips all over the place pulling the feeding tray around, all the while all fluffed up. She had the one egg left I put it in there she must have pecked it and broke it open but not the skin (whatever that is) I look grayish, but I did have one try and get out of the shell and died. It was a Jersey to, darn. There is one baby that is very little a Jersey it gets knocked around by mom and the other babies. They are darn cute!

yesterday was beautiful, today we are enjoying a beautiful sun rise!!

Roosters are crowing, snow is melting, another beautiful day(just a little less sun) But it is OK


something I need to say......enjoy, and love your family, each member is so special and when one leaves the loss is so hard, life is too short, we always think we have more time. We lost our daughter last month, blood clots in both lungs. she had been suffering from RSD, a horrible pain disorder, caused from a bad surgery. For 9 yrs she fought every day to go to work and to help those around her in any way she could, She worked very hard at being the best Peggy she could be. I was blessed to have talked to her on the phone the morning she died, I regret that I didn't hear any panic in her voice just the pain which we had become accustomed to hearing. She made mistakes in this life; as we all do, but the good that she did for others far outweighed her mistakes. Cherish those around you and don't let the moment slip by when you could have said, I LOVE YOU. We say it a lot more around here lately, with more sincerity.

Let those you love, know you love them. Our life will always be blessed with the love and happy memories of Peggy, she was only 44

I am happy to wake up every morning but sometimes I get mad and don't want to go on, when I have really bad days.

Another day is upon us and for the first time in a long time it's starting out with temperatures in the 40s. Granny is finally feeling well enough that she wants to go to church this morning. It will be the first time since December when her medical problems started. Life can a travail and we need to constantly cherish the moments that we have with our loved ones and make sure they know how important they are to our lives.

I hope this warm weather thaws us all out a bit. Opa, glad to hear your wife is feeling better. I am sure your church family will be glad to see her come back!

All my chicks survived their first night with me. They all look very healthy and active. I am going to set up a larger brooder for them to go into next week. Now if I can just get them to stop pooping in their food!

I must have missed this, What chickens are $2000?? Would be afraid to take them out of the cage.

Kimmie my daughter was using Saboxen, (not spelled right,will look it up) many Dr.s are not familiar with it. It is used off label for pain. Peg said it took her pain from a 20 to a 4or5, it is not as addictive as the strong pain drugs used by most dr. and according to the Dr. that finally diagnosed her, the morphine and stronger drugs used for pain feed the RSD and make it worse. When Peg started on this drug 5 yrs ago there was only 1 Dr. in GR that could write a perscrip. for this med.Now there are a lot more. Dr. Springer was 1 of her Dr.s that wrote this scrp. Stress makes the disease worse and would cause what she called break throughs and pain attacks. Before Saboxen we were in the hospital A LOT after not as often.
