Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I guess I was a day early, Opa. They were 50% off on Monday. I walked out with 4 Mallards but went back for 2 runners. I'm blaming the cute TSC girl for talking me into them in the first place.

Woke up to white stuff on the ground. I thought we were done with this nonsense. But the sun is shining in a cloudless sky and I better get some chores done. I'll save the crossword until lunch.
I thought we were done with this nonsense too. Winter seems to be hanging on with all it's might

Quote: Smoking the eggs was really quite easy. I placed the peeled eggs on a rack inside the smoker and applied smoke for about 2 hours. The critical factor in smoking eggs is that it must be a cold smoke so that the eggs receive no additional cooking which would make them dry.. Rather than use my big smoker, I used by Little Chief smoker without any insulation box around it. I also place a small pan of water in the bottom of the smoker.

Well, what started out as a nasty winter day has turned out rather nicely. The sun is shining, and the wind has calmed a bit. I was surprised when I looked out earlier, while it was still quite gusty outside, and saw the chickens braving the wind to scratch around in the snow.

I also decided to crap open 2 of today's eggs to see if there was a 'bullseye' in there not. I wasn't sure on one, but the other was definitely identifiable.

That means that even though he's not grabbing the ladies while I'm out there, my EE roo is in-fact getting the job done. I'm really excited to set eggs when we get back from our vacation.

I totally have such nice neighbors. About 3/4 of a mile from home, my little car snagged into an ice rut on the dirt road, which guided me right into the snowbank on the side of the road! I knew I couldn't get it out, as it is a little front wheel drive sedan. I walked down the road to a neighbor who I knew would be home, in no time I was pulled out of the ditch! Profuse thanks were definitely given, and I gave him a six case of bottled Smithwicks Irish Ale, too. It is what I had on hand! I will be bringing some eggs down, too, once I can gather a dozen. The girls are still kinda being slow from the cold weather.

Crazy Chicken Ranch is advertising a sale on her chicks on FB

and.... Starbrightfarms.com has pics of beautiful hens and roosters on her FB page.

Started out cold and nasty our with a blanket of snow. Sun came out and hopefully the wind will die down. At least it looks pretty outside.
