I do the same I have 8 week old with 3 week oldsI don't see why not as long as your brooder is big enough to give them all room.I throw mine together each week for 3 weeks of hatching and then start a new brooder.(I give them a couple days right after hatching by themselves before putting them with the older) So I'll have ages 2-3 days in with 3wk olds.
I was afraid to stick my 1 day-olds with my 3 1/2-weekers so they are separated by hardware cloth. The big guys are so strong, already inflicting a nasty pinch when they nip and they have a go at that partition in attempts to peck the babies too. I can't imagine putting them together. They look like snacks. When their size is a little closer, I'll combine them, if the big guys are still inside. They're testing my nerves already at almost 4 weeks with their mess. I still have to make a grow-out pen for them though so they're inside for at least another week, if not more.I do the same I have 8 week old with 3 week olds
Thank you Nova..... I'm hoping once i get her on wire her feet will not be so dirty haha I have less than a month to keep her clean and for my Roosters beard to grow back my girls must enjoy pecking the guys beards offFancy, she is really pretty! My girls have twice the feathers on their feet! I wish it was more like yours!

What Breed are you looking for?Hello from White Lake. We just purchased some little chicks from TSC for our kids and were wondering if there is a place that sells chickens (not chicks) around the metro area? We would like to get a flock going a little faster for eggs
Blasphemy!!!I need some brooder input as I'm trying to have everything done and ready before I have chicks to deal with. I have 70 meaties and 6 layers coming in a month. I have 32 eggs in the incubator, and will be setting another 12 on Friday.
I have our 5ft x 5ft dog kennel in the basement, so I'm thinking about getting boxes from work to line the floor and sides, putting a tarp in it and then either putting sand or shavings in that to brood in. I can expand to 5ft x 10ft if absolutely needed (as in, we get a snowstorm in May). It's not my favorite idea in the world to have that many chicks inside, but it has to be done. Hopefully spring will get the idea and it'll warm up soon. Thoughts? I'm really curious about the sand and keeping the stink down by raking it daily or something.
We're hoping to get the materials for the meatie tractors this weekend, but I don't think it'll be warm enough for them to be put outside for 2 weeks.
