Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

All the roads that lead to mine are flooded over at some point. We can get through one way which isn't too deep. And our vernal pond which is usually the size of our living room is the size of a large pond stretching out to the private road next to us, the front of the main road and right up behind our pole barn and old pig pen. Our yard slopes down so it is going to the back of our property instead of our backyard. Just heard they closed our schools for tomorrow due to the poor road conditions.

FYI-anyone in the Lowell area. They are expecting the river to crest at 21ft Sunday and are expecting the downtown area and homes along the river area to be flooded. The library will be closed tomorrow and they are setting up an emergency shelter for anyone who needs to evacuate their home and handing out sandbags for anyone in the projected flood area tomorrow starting at 8am for anyone trying to protect their home.

So. Much. Water. Teeville has a Vernal pond. We have a vernal stream. In our basement.

Cute baby chicks, and hopeful goat recovery, and the puppy... oh!

I saw the sunset, and also took a photo. It's good to know the sun is still up there...

Some pictures of the flooding in Lowell. I took them yesterday while in town running errands. Most east-west roads were underwater and closed at some point.

Fairgrounds (see the sign in the water and the submerged white fence?)

I love seeing all the pics. Glad that the goat is doing better, I hope he continues to improve.

I have been missing my chickens so much that DH got this little guy for me.

I am open to suggestions for names. He is a Papillon and won't get much over 8 lbs full grown. I like the name Tate cause he is just a little tater tot. DH is not too sure about that name. He wants something like Bruiser...something that sounds like a big dogs name

What a cutie! With ears like those, reminds me of "Gizmo." Could call him Gizzy for short.

Glad you still hop in from time to time and see what is going on here. Miss seeing you here more often.

HH, love the pup, maybe Thor "the God of War"
I was on the River rd. a few days ago and the water was up the the rail-road tracks. may be over the road by now.
our road is also flooded at both ends.
Our drain field is flooded and we had to have our septic tanks pumped yesterday to keep the sewage from backing up into the house, still vac. water up on a daily bases, glad the basement is not finished off, not sure our sump pump is working
Hawley highway is closed near Saranac were the road has washed out, Glad We were not the care that went through, crossed that spot yesterday AM the water was rushing over VERY fast and deep

fuzzy glad the goat is doing better

Prayers for those in Boston, scary things going on there , prayers for the families of the police officers
Hope they catch the other guy soon and find out who they are working with

Lice - bleah. Glad he is holding his own. Just be cautious about rushing his recovery, this time of year with its temperature shifts and extremes, is hard enough on animals without other stresses (like almost starving to death) added on top. His immune system is going to take time to recover too.
Cautious about too much feed still? The pellets? I saw that TSC also carries a goat supplement pellet that is the goat equivalent of my concentrated showbird supplement that i favor for my birds. I was thinking that one for when he's able, because he wouldn't need but an ounce (i think that's what the label read) a day, and it has chelated minerals (easier to digest) , and yeast cultures too for digestability. I know when i use the bird one my birds really glow! ???

Yes, his immune system will probably never be the same. My pet hen that i rescued was never strong. I kept her alive for 2 years, but she's the one i learned avian medicine for. (Lice, sour crop, CRD, soft shell eggs, bumblefoot, foot infection, rough shell egg, than the heat stroke at the end. :( ) I honestly think that's why she and i were so close, because though i didn't like it we both knew that it wouldn't last; but God let her be happy for a little while and i got an angel for a little while. God willing DH will get his goat for a little while yet too, but i don't think i have the heart to tell DH that the goat will forever be affected.

Rain Rain Rain...

I hope it holds off tonight. We have tickets to the Whitecaps game.

Our front field HAD a small creek that ran through it. Like... maybe a few feet wide & ankle deep, maybe calf at most. And now we have a river... & thankful our house is on the hill above it.

I received my Olive Egger hatching eggs in the mail yesterday!! YAY!! I set them in the incubator this morning. The woman that sent them is guessing that the first 2 eggs are OE over lavender, then the marans egg is 1st generation OE, and the last 3 are second generation OE. I LOVE the colors... ***

Hoping to get a hen, or 2!***

I had to take our barn cat to the vet the other day. She has a very small injury on her foot, that ended up with a secondary infection. The vet shaved it, drained it, cleaned it, and sent us home with 10 day liquid antibiotics. So, our barn kitty is in the house for a while until her foot heals. AND since she's in the house, I guess sissy needs to be too! LOL. So both barn kitties are on vacation, not catching mice, and not doing anything farm related. They are spending their days napping by the wood stove, grooming, eating kitty snacks, & walking around like they own the place. Spoiled cats. :)
