Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Okay. I just wanted to share a story with you all. As many of you know, I had a fiasco with some raccoons. I had basically given up hope and was at my wits end, but was surprised yesterday and this morning with some beautiful chicks. Here is the part that really warmed my heart. When I got my Crested Cream Legbar eggs, one had a very strange air sac. In fact, it looked like this picture:

The air sac was on the side of the egg instead of the top. I set the egg and figured it was hopeless. I left it alone, though, with the rare chance that it would make it. When I candled the eggs right before lockdown, the air sac was still on the side of the egg. There were 9 CCL eggs total. When I woke up, there were 7 CCL chicks in the hatcher and 1 egg pipped. That last crazy air cell egg wasn't pipped yet and I figured it was useless to even hope for anything. Well, about 15 minutes ago, a small pip formed in the egg and literally a few seconds ago, a perfectly beautiful little chick emerged. In fact, it was so eager to get out that it even beat the other egg that was already pipped in getting out! That one is still trying to figure out how to get out of the egg.

I love how God steps in and gives us some hope even in the darkest times.

Fuzzy, just gradually continue to increase the feed over about 10-14 days until you have him at normal rations. The supplement sounds like a good idea, and if it is just an ounce you can probably start adding that right away without any concerns.

I commiserate with all those with flooding. I will trade you the snow.

A dog like that needs to be called Spike! lol! Very thoughtful of your DH Hillbilly!

I wanted to share a gift I received from a friend yesterday. Can't get more authentic than this. His name is Red Bird.
He smudged it, and then explained what all the items meant.... very personal items from himself and his tribe.
The word on top is Magueich which he said means thank you. He's a pretty cool guy.

Stay dry!

The boys woke up just in time to watch the first chick emerge from its shell, they were so excited! Two more are pipped and rocking. I have to go to work from 11-3 and so don't want to, would much rather stay here and watch these cuties hatch.

Thanks for sharing this! I love stories of hope.

aww! I love when little creatures beat the odds! I've got some marans eggs set right now that have some very weird and lop-sided aircells, so this gives me hope.

Super windy here today, and our porch swing chains are creaking when it gusts......and it sounds JUST LIKE A COYOTE HOWLING. I almost had a heart attack about 15min ago trying to figure out WHAT ON EARTH coyotes were doing out and about this time of day, and so close to the house. Nope. Just the swing.

Got 11 eggs yesterday from the 11 girls that are old enough to lay! The last 3 girls are starting to pink up and get waddles finally. I caught one of them sitting on the already laid eggs a few days ago.

Welcome to all the new members

I love seeing all the pics. Glad that the goat is doing better, I hope he continues to improve.

I have been missing my chickens so much that DH got this little guy for me.

I am open to suggestions for names. He is a Papillon and won't get much over 8 lbs full grown. I like the name Tate cause he is just a little tater tot. DH is not too sure about that name. He wants something like Bruiser...something that sounds like a big dogs name

I got a pappy, too, Laura. The sweetest dogs. Love to sit on your lap. Beautiful coloring! Just love him.

Praying for those that may be affected by the flood.

Congrats on the new chicks!

Thanks y'all for all the comments and suggestions on the puppy.

What a cutie! With ears like those, reminds me of "Gizmo." Could call him Gizzy for short.

Glad you still hop in from time to time and see what is going on here. Miss seeing you here more often.
Thanks Brethern, it was a bit hard to see all the chick pics so I tried to stay away. But it was harder missing all the fine folks here. DH thought Gizmo was a good name too...till I reminded him tha cat's name is Gizmo

Cool gift!!
Yes, DH is very good to me. He knows it was a hard thing for me to get rid of the chickens.

Is he yappy? I have read that pappy's aren't supposed to be yappy. I don't mind when they bark to alert you that they hear or see something different. My rattie is good about that.

Mine is a talker. Hears everything and lets me know! Milo is a delight, tho. Such a sweet playful dog. My daughter has Milo's sister, and she's a lot quieter, and smaller. My pappy is on the big side.. 13lbs! His sister, Fancy just a mere 7 lbs. You'll enjoy him. He'll keep your lap warm! Where did you hubby get him from?
