front black and white..? no white on head like the others. this one now that i look closer may be barred rock. my white leghorn was posing so i snapped a picture, they seem pretty friendly this brown one is a mystery chick anyone know what it is here another pic of mystery chick is this beginning of barring.. if it is i may have a barred rock.. maybe i have 2 of them.. is this what they look like when they are young..

Mystery chick looks like how my RIR looked at that age. Could be it?

I also have poop boards for my hens. I had them filled with PDZ to scoop out the poop and keep it clean but over the winter, it froze and I couldn't scoop it. I thought about using shavings but I was worried they'd lay their eggs there. Have you had any hens laying on the board frequently?

They never tried to lay eggs there but I did have a couple that dropped eggs because it was too dark for them to see to get down from the roost. At least the eggs did not have to fall very far.

Is there someone here that may be interested in 15-16 9ish week chickens? Mainly Easter Eggers, some Amber links and possibly one that I forgot what it was. Plus 9 or 10 week old coturnix quail.

I love my SO but I am getting tired of fighting. The over the weekend I went to feed the chicks in the coop and there was some really small areas where something had dug in the shed. It was near the chickens but small and not very deep. So whatever it was gave up. My friend went and told my SO before I could stop her (I swear I just want her gone) and he put his foot down on the run construction. I have been fighting with him since them to keep the chicks. I have out a rat trap and we have nothing. He is convinced it is a rat and that there are 100's of them.

Anyway, IDK if the battle is lost with him yet, but it is looking like it. So just in case, I would like a home for them all. I do not know gender, so please do not ask. They are all free. I just want a good home for them. I don't care if you grow them for your freezer, mine would have ended up there anyway. lol I don't want to put them on Craigslist.

Either way, I should know by tomorrow.

I live in Muskegon but am willing to drive a little bit.

So we have been toying with gettting goats for a few months. Well, today during my daily Craigslist check I found a Nubian/Fainting doe, already bred to a Nubian buck, ready to birth in the next few weeks... she was FREE! So Guess where I went LOL

Thanks, me to. He is so focused on "it may be a rat... and with the addition our house will be open" that it is his thing. Grr.... We just had another heated discussion and I brought up his cat who you look at cross eyed, she gets angry and pees someplace.... really, it is almost that way. I think his dad (who I love dearly) and some other family have gotten into his head. I think I made my point though.... that and I am REALLY hormonal today. Never anger a pregnant lady.

And I am guessing my friend did not feed and check water did so this morning. We do it twice a day and she does it in the morning. It is part of her "rent"....... Last night I had 16...... I went in to feed my friends (thank god the kids were not with me) and I have 7... and 3 bodies... blood , feathers.... I see lots of chicken prints (very close together. I bet they were trying to get their footing and get away) but no other tracks.

Guess I will be going out in the mornings from now on since people cannot be trusted.
