Good Morning Everyone!
I had a solicitor at 8:30 this morning!!!! Seriously?!? AND she ran over one of my duck eggs that was so carelessly laid in the driveway (one Pekin literally does a plop and drop anywhere she happens to be standing . . . ). I had just looked out and watched her lay it, went to put on shoes to walk out and get it, and here comes a car up my driveway. I rarely get visitors - and never this early on a weekend. Grrrr . . . I hadn't even poured myself a cup of joe yet.

I am back in the mitten and its a very different summer! Did I get the month wrong and come back in September? Something is wrong...
My avatar is a favorite of mine, it also gives me a great Halloween costume!

I havent been able to find anyone in the area, even as far as bay city who sells eggs. Such a shame.
If I get a job in the area after my school is over I'll definatly be setting up some girls in the back yard and using the Michigan Farm Act to support it. If no one else sells them then I'll be able to make some good money to pay for the chickens plus once you go butt fresh egg you never go back. Have to find some Houdans stateside, but that shouldn't be any problem.

So if you know anyone who is egg deprived in the Saginaw area send them my way.

Currently I'm holding 4 doz duck eggs in the fridge. Will likely cook some but I can add to the list

No, HDF, I missed that.
I've been popping in and out lately and not really concentrating on the thread.

In my defense, I've been trying to do chores and get the MAEAP seminar ready for next week. I need to make up some simple handouts with the information all condensed into one place. MFSC wants it as well and I have a presentation in Lansing on Thursday or Friday.

Who wants to come help with some light chores tomorrow?

I just realized that I set me cochin eggs so they will start hatching Friday night through Chickenstock grrr. Oh well, it is probably better that I am not there fussing while they hatch.

Help! No coffee! I need some coffee so badly. I have no idea why I am so tired. I slept in until 9 am!

We have the big girls and little girls separated now. They all go out to free range together and that seems to be going well. We have one little girl who gets picked on by both groups though. She stays by herself or follows close at our heels. We have had to give her a little condo to sleep in. She is in the coop, but safe from the others. There are a couple girls who don't really bother her so we keep putting them together in the yard hoping they will bond. I think the next step is to take the biggest bully out and put her in chicken jail for a week so they can reestablish a pecking order without the evil ring leader.

Last night I accidently closed one little one in with the big girls. She came out unscathed but paced the pen until I put her back with her pals. Who know chicken social life would be so all consuming?

That is a good idea taking the biggest bully out. Life before chickens was so easy and boring,
