Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The pheasant pen building is on hold thanks to the massive amount of rain we are getting. 1mutt I was thinking of you when those black/green clouds rolled through to our north last night. We have been right on the southern edge. We really need the rain but I wish it were in a little gentler fashion.

Two of my little chickens, 7 week olds, Mouse and Martin, are going to camp with us. I am working on harnesses for them. Hopefully we can socialize them so they will be used to kids.

Ugg started looking at my chickens pics when they were babies. Makes me want more chicks. Can someone come over and slap me?

You're missing out. It's not too late for me to whip you up a batch of the brahma/EE cross chicks! ;) And man, they are lovely. I think we're going to send the boys to freezer camp this weekend. The girls aren't quite laying yet. They'll be 16 weeks this Saturday. The combs are starting to darken up a bit though so hopefully in a few weeks. Are you sure?

Here's a quick video of our temporary automatic pop door. I built the mount for it yesterday and assembled the new door, sill and cover for the outside (being that the door is lighter and weaker than the plywood I had previously). We installed the motor and brain with its new programming and new batteries last night and it opened exactly when it should have this morning. Works great so far. I will be interested to know how it holds up over the week. (I will cut off the extra cord)
Love it! :)

I don't want any ("I don't want any, I don't want any, I don't want any..."), but I'd love to see a photo of what this cross looks like.

But really, no more than 6 k?

Keep chanting that kiddo. Let me know how it works for you. As I have thrown in the towel. Bring on the baby chickies

Nah, I really can't. If we do another round of chicks this summer, I won't be able to get fertile eggs for our silkie (one of this year's chicks) to sit on next spring.

You have much stronger will power than me. Hello, my name is Lisa and I am a adorable baby chick addict. (Hellos) come on people. I know I'm not the only one...
