Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Yay, my garage door has been fixed. New gear was needed in the opener and the tracks realigned. Not sure how the tracks got out of whack, it was nothing obvious that I could see.

The criminal chicken keeper is forming a band of renegade egg runners.

I'll be in Farmington Hills on Sunday the 1st of Sept. I'm sure we could find some shady back alley.

A couple of my birds are also moulting.
ha ha ha! I still say i wish i was closer. I have a camper coop and i could come a visiting and give eggs :D Can't get a ticket for driving through with them, can I?
I'd like to see their faces when PET chickens were being held in the streets and real eggs eaten! LOL
I think all 4 hen feet are bumble foot free. Doing a quiet happy dance here, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Hooray! Mine are on antibiotics and of the 3 of the 5 who had it have healed nicely. The other 2 i'm still working on. I think i found the culprit finally too. I have a rabbit cage for a nest box, which works out great if one goes broody i can shut her in if any babies are hatched. But i think this group of birds is stepping on the little wire lip to get in instead just right in like the others used to; it would explain why it was always the right foot! had me buggered. So that nest is closed and they get the dog house for now until i figure out what to do about it.

Um, RaZ,
Did you pull a permit to make that fix?
If not, I am sure the OO will pay you a visit :D

Today's election replaces one of the sitting commissioners in Grand Rapids. There is one candidate who has already said he'd vote to overturn the existing ordinance against hens (and the pro chicken folks only need one more vote to bring it up again). It's not my ward, so I can't vote, but... fingers crossed.

X2! But the way the bees and hummingbirds are acting makes me suspicious...

X3 !

But August, thus far, is acting like the end of September / October. I want it to be 90 & humid & have to run my AC!

You know, summer ?????? Where is it ? We had it for like one week...:(

And all this rain? It just finished pouring here. Again. I am never gonna get to cut my lawn ....

I was really looking forward to summer this year. It feels like we jumped from Spring right into Autumn. I keep thinking it's October. I'm all sorts of messed up. Lol

Summer is my favorite time of year. I hate winter. I only like snow for XMAS week. I only like fall for the pretty leaves, hunting & football. Spring for the beautiful, bright, new colors AND that it is (supposed to be) the precursor to SUMMER!!

Yeah yeah. I know. "Then why do you live in Michigan ?" Because all my family is within 45 max of me....and my family is more important than the weather :)

(BUT, if I win tomorrow night's $400M Powerball, I guarantee I will NOT be spending winters in Michigan ! And that will be enough $ to bring my chickens, dog & cats wherever I decide to go!)

This "summer" has been pathetic. When I have to wear a fleece jacket & sweats all day during the first week of August...well, that is simply unacceptable.

I am the exact same way! I like snow from December 21st-January 1st, and then I'm over it. I like every season except Winter. The rest of my family like every season except Summer. They all call me crazy for being sad that we didn't really have summer this year.

It can snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That's it. Then I'm done. And the two places I've lived are known for snow. Here and Colorado. The first year we lived there we got 36 inches in 36 hours. I couldn't see my car for a week. Except for the antenna.
