Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have had indoor full sized Icelandics, roosters, and trios, and also different bantams. They are cleaner then parrots or pigeons. A big wire crate with a tray, a roost and adequate feeders and waterers and its doable.

Very doable. Finches and canarys are great, but chickens lay edible eggs! At least the hens do.

That sounds like a wild cucumber too. I dont know what the correct name is. A pest.

Not here now though, oaks are getting red leaves on the ones on the fence line, others are still green. Supposed to be 40 at night for the next week, which will be an improvement.

OH... if only it were edible.. you'd have a free crop to harvest in that wild cucumber/bur. Best way to get rid of it is to rip it out.. then continue to rip out new growth. Pinch off the flowers before they have a chance to polinate, or pinch off the fruits before they have a chance to seed. You can use a pesticide, but, you risk contamination and/or killing the plant/bush/tree it is growing on.

Might be spiny cucumber

tHANK YOU ALL, THAT IS IT, I tried to find it on google but only got things for sale, even when I put in WEED

Quote: ME? I wouldn't enable and you know canaries come in all colors

they are not growing any were close to the yard, down the road and down in the gully by my DH's target area they might make an interesting target to shoot at

Yet another morning spent in the courthouse. Kind of aggravated the prosecutor at first but then he saw reason and basically washed his hands of the motions being filed. However, the judge got pretty mad. He interrupted me, belittled me, talked about cases not relevant to today, refused to answer direct questions. The funny thing was that the judge called the prosecutor to the courtroom and asked what was going on. The prosecutor said that they had no case. Even so, the judge rescheduled me to appear again on October 9.

Best of all are the witnesses signing affidavits showcasing the open hostility, bias and prejudice towards me.

There was also another Garden City chicken keeper there for arraignment who was granted a continuance to form his case defense.

was this about your appeal, or the ord. violations and the "may or may not have chickens" violation??

I think my cuckoo marans hen is broody again. day 3 of her pecking me in the nest box when i'm checking for eggs. I tried to give her chicks this summer and she was not a good mama. Do I dare try again? I may be able to 'appropriate' chick's from my BIL, or ya know, give her 2 or 3 eggs to sit on.

The "may or may not have chickens" ticket was dropped last month and is no longer in the system. The butterfly garden ticket was also dropped but it still on the computer as an "open" charge. The probation violation was "dismissed without prejudice" today.

Today's appearance was to address the porch and garage siding and neither was even discussed by the prosecutor or judge. The probation officer told me that there are three more charges being held in abeyance pending the outcome of the porch and garage cases that are still pending from July 2012. They are the only charges that have a case number assigned to them.
