Opa- I have a crazy mix now, lol. My goal was different colored eggs and alot of them to feed my boys. I got the 1 RIR Roo because of the hawks around here and I just love him, he"s so friendly. DH hasn't cared about them quite as much, he will build something for them if I ask and help out, but yesterday when he saw a pic of a phoenix roo, he really liked it. The mix of birds wouldn't bother me, we eat the eggs so fast-I don't think I'll ever have to worry about baby chicks, for now.

I would love to get him that rooster, but wouldn't want to give up mine. I was wondering what the temperament is of that breed, if not I will stick to the 1 I got so there is no fighting. Thanks for all your help and advice, hope your doing well with ur treatments.

Lady-that is a beautiful coop. That's where I see hard work and patience really pay off. Nice job

Friends are valuable commodities. They enrich our life, add to our experiences, and make us better people. Each and everyone of them is someone to cherish.

The trend lately seems to be social media and on one site folks actually solicit for friends and they then derive some sort of bragging rights by how large their friends list has become. To me this seems more than a little pathetic. One don't have to ask for someone to be your friend. It's something that you just know about that person.

So how I do I believe one gathers friends. It's quite simple, by first being one. Your actions speak more eloquently than you even could and I think most of us judge others by what they do rather than by what they say. You should live your live in a manner that demonstrates to others what type of person you are.

As my sons were growing up I tried to teach them by example. I wanted to instill upon them the values of honesty, integrity, concern for others, and a strong work ethic. An individual that learns to first rely upon himself and is forthright in his dealings with others will soon attract like individuals without having to go on line a beg for friends.

Lady, I keep neglecting to comment of just how beautiful I think your chicken coop is. I'm almost tempted to tear mine down and build something very similar. Beautiful job!

Good Morning! I'm still on cloud nine!

My chickens are my pets. They have names and each has a different personality. I got them because I just love chickens. Added bonus, they give me eggs.

I got dogs, cats and bunnies. They are my pets. They have names and different personalities. Added bonus, they give endless love and many laughs.

When they are old and cannot perform like their younger days, I will still give them love and make them comfortable and give them the best care I can.

Chickens are my pets. I will not dispatch them because they slow down on egg production. They will have a forever home where they can free range and sunbathe. They will have a safe secure home to sleep in.

It's just a matter of preferance. People have different reasons for keeping chickens. It's up to the individual of what they want to do with them when egg production slows down.

And, I'm kinda sad that my long time friends didn't see the need to congratulate me on my new grandbaby.

Just saying..........
Well, not a long-time friend - maybe two years, but darn it - CONGRATS! I have one grandson and am envious of you and all the ones you have! Congrats again! John

I got my first deer ever this evening. I applied for a doe tag when they become available, and I got one. So I got my doe!

I have an antlered tag, but I know I won't fill it. Ever since opening day, the bucks I'd seen on my game camera are are not showing up. They've either been hunted or are laying low. They've got to cross about twenty acres of open field owned by my neighbor (who also owns the woods, and hunts there), so it is almost impossible for a decent buck to survive crossing that open space to make it to this 30 acres property. They get taken before they make it.

Alright Stacykins! Congrats on the nice doe! I know what you mean about the property gauntlet. When I first started hunting, we had a whole country block (about 200 acres) with just my Dad and I. We took some impressive bucks from there, may took 2 or 3 a year....... and now we're down to 40 acres with everyone and his brother sitting along our property line and they not only shoot everything, but take 5-6 each. We rarely see many deer anymore. And none of the size or quality like this fella....

I went out for a few minutes tonight after I processed a turkey for a customer. I'm not sure if the deer I spooked going to my spot was the same one that came in later behind me or not. It was a nice doe as well. She was only 20 ft behind me.. but of course, she was behind me and the road was behind her. So she was safe for tonight, however, that may change in the morning!
