Hi Everyone,
If anyone is located near Farmington Hills my wife and I would love to meet up with you and discuss what you have learned along the way. Always best to learn from the collective rather than making the same mistakes. Feel free to message me directly.
and the Mi. thread, ... do build big, Silly is right you often end up with more then you thought, there are so many interesting and fun breeds
and do plan on Chicken Stock in June if you can it is a picnic/potluck, all are welcome,
After 4 or 5 days of mid 40's the temperature here is holding steady at 35 F. (Neener, neener, neener. ) Heck, I've even had the window open for some fresh air.
we haven't seen temps that warm for a long time, Friday's ice storm left the kids very happy, Christmas break started a day early, just walking out to the chickens was hard work, had to shovel the ice away from the door to the run then try to stay up-right as I went through,Even the dog is sliding all over.
Only blanch whole cobs, drop in a sink of ice/water mix, remove when cooled ( very quickly), put them on cookie sheets and flash freeze (my deep freezer), next day I vacuum seal. They are never mushy. We drop the whole cobs in boiling water and eat corn on the cob year around. Did I say never mushy?
thank you I may try freezing some next yr. last time I did it on the cob the hens got most of it,they like mushy.
1mutsfann, you can keep the snow up by you, if we get much more on top of this ice all the trees may come down
