non at the FFH in GR

have friends looking for some, have been trying to keep an eye open for them

BYC has multiple forums dedicated to specific topics and discussions unrelated to chickens. The "Michigan thread" is a wide open forum to speak whats on your mind and any subject matter may appear posted within. It is truly a "social" forum related to the people living within the state of Michigan. This is truly the Facebook web site on BYC.
Agriculturally speaking, a lot of the content on here is totally unrelated to Agricultural live stock and farming persay. I think a lot of users overstep subject matter that should be related to Michigan interests.
I really dont care if I get hammered on this but thats the way I see it. Try finding a forum related to your subject matter. Jibber jabber belongs elsewhere.

I looked at the top of the thread and it does indeed say "social" which is the appropriate section for people to "chew the fat" as it is referred to in the Ham world

A doe. Bucks are easy to find. Does are what produce the goods. Of course if I was working with genetics a I would own one of every color, lol!

Thanks for posting!

I tend to agree Roost, I dont have a huge amount of time to spend on email, and sometimes the threads here get pretty far afield of ag stuff. I think food pretty much lines up with the subject though. But, I think we can apply a little KY windage to the posts. I just speed up and scan the ones that arnt dead center on ag stuff.

Anyhow, re good buys, I have 3 June 2013 turkeys for sale, cheap, $15 ea, picked up, a pair of Black Spanish and a Jake Bourben Red. I need the pens that they are in for my chickens. I was going to keep them for breeding but just wont have the space or time for them.

I am in Mikado, north of Saginaw about 2 hrs and 45 mins south of Alpena. The price on them should go well towards the gas to come and pick them up.

-3 here this morning, high of 5 today, ditto tomorrow, life goes on, one day closer to April.

Same in North Muskegon. You need to be there when the postal delivery happens or "whoops - they all gone". .99 is the price right now for a week or so like you said. Same every year.

If, you trust the bio security of auctions...you can pick up (what's supposed to be CX) for pennies on the dollar. Or, order them at FFH (min. 25).

I did a beer can chicken last night. A 2012 bird hidden in the bottom of the chest freezer below all of my 2013 birds, and deer meat. Anyway, it was perfect, no burn, no dehydration whatsoever. A medium 8 pound CX.

How many should I do this year, hmmm?

Hey RaZ, I started an Acerglyn with the Maple syrup I make and some clover honey. SG was 1.113 so I'm thinking it will be on the sweet side. Only a 1 gallon batch to see how it goes. Against some trains of thought, but in line with others, I'm primary for 1 month, secondary for 2-4 months racking until clear. I'll bottle around my birthday on July 3rd (or drink it all).

Just a little experiment...

P.S. I have 6 gallons of concord I need to bottle this week. Washing bottles is no joy but I'm a tightwad and use throw-aways.
