All 6 bins are completely sold out at the TSC in new Hudson.

My DH made a cover with chicken wire attached to a wood frame. Works great! We put it over a 100 gallon stock tank. I prefer the black plastic one. Not as tall but wider and lighter.

I use big stock water tanks, with a homemade hardware cloth top, or a very large plastic dog crate up on a table. Make sure that the wire door is secure and that the openings are too small for your smallest chick to get out. Your cats will be thrilled, but it won't be good for the birds. Jake, I'm so sorry . The lady at TSC (before we ever even got chickens) recommended this and mixing it with their water. Is this something that you all do for your chicks? Will this help Froozy & her bum? I'm also starting to put some vaseline on there...
don't know why she would have you get a med like that, maybe she meant to point out the electrolite, vitamin pack they look alike,

a lg plastic tote with a top works well, cut the inside of the top out and use the outer part of the top to hold down some fabric screen
don't have one to show, but I think some one on here used it last yr.

any one know how much it costs to replace a seat belt in the car, my rather lg. puppy is having a chewing issue and has chewed through the back seat belt

3 different chew bones and raw hide sitting next to him and he has to go for the seat belt

It was only actually clogged once (where after I cleaned it, well, you could tell she had to go!), but this morning I woke up to this:

It had the consistency of a mucus, but was dried at the end.

Okay, are you giving your chicks medicated chick starter? Unless they look/act sick I wouldn't give the antibiotics. You might want to get some chick sized grit to make available to them. Once they have access to grit, you can blend up fresh broccoli, spinach, or like greens and give them small amounts. You want it ground up pretty small. Did you try giving the yogurt? Its electrolytes and vitamins that I put in their water. As long as you keep on it poppy butt isn't usually a problem.

Jake - so sorry to hear of your problem. If you have a little time we should be able to come up with a way for you to keep your birds.

IMO: Don't rush into antibiotics right away...you don't even know if she needs them. Chickens develop about 7 different types of poop - some down right nasty ones! Try giving yogurt or Probotics in the water to help get their system in proper working order. Then if you think she needs anti's go ahead.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a shipping crate? I saw some listed for free on Craigslist, but they are gone now. I'm going to need something to make into a *cat-proof* brooder. We got a pair of kittens over the summer and they are very interested in the chicks - I've got to come up with a better solution than I usually have… (in prior years I've just used large boxes cut and tapped to make a big enough area. That definitely won't keep the cats out… Chicks are currently in a rubbermaid in my bathroom, lol)
Any ideas on what I can use that is big enough for them to grow into and safe from kitties?

:/

How big of a box do you need? I may be able to help you out.... I'm not sure what size shipments my DH is expecting, but they are on the way. He said you'd be welcome to them. I'm just not sure when they'll arrive. Next week maybe?
