My broody keeps switching nest boxes   It has me worried since I'm putting eggs under her tomorrow. I put an old dog crate out there and moved her into it. Think she'll stay?

No. Not unless you close the door on it. Put food and water in there, put her in at nightfall and shut the door. I am thinking the other girls might be messing with this one or she's not fully broody yet. Maybe if she stays in one nest 24 hours??? Then you can open it back up and see how the other girls act. Don't bother giving her the good eggs until you are sure she will sit. If she paces in a shut cage she will end up busting the eggs, and if she nest hops they will be killed too. But if she is truly broody a nice dark protected spot is what will make her happy. :) my last broody spot was a little plastic dog house i threw some straw into for egg laying. The roof pops off so it was nice for egg collecting too.

That's exactly the advice Wynette gave me (with a pic of one of her broody Marans in the the crate).
I will be getting that all set up today & put eggs under Maia tomorrow. I have been tossing Maia of her current nest once /day for for food/water/poop purposes....she's been in that nest box for 8 days now...tomorrow she gets 6 Marans & 6 EE eggs (Roo is an EE).

I'm positive she's broody. She stayed on one nest for 48 hours. I think she is getting pushed out by the other hens. I'm not sure where she is on the pecking order. I put her in a plastic dog kennel and I am going to put food and water down and lock her in. I will clean out the poo daily and see how it goes.

Thanks everyone. It was a beautiful day yesterday so I took the kids outside to meet Oliver and Daisy. When I found out that Ethel was positive for CL and CAE, I found a Saanen goat breeder nearby, and brought one of her year old doe that had just given birth. She is a very sweet goat, and is tested clean of everything! Oliver has adopted her as his mother.

Anabelle gave birth to 6 healthy piglets yesterday! Boy, I am getting flooded with babies! Pearl my Jersey cow might calve in a few weeks, and I have one more goat to give birth in a few weeks too!

Very content cows and goats
Congrats on all the babies! It makes me want to come to your farm and play with them all. So much cuteness!

Not at the moment for me lady. I am being a picky butt on birds and only keeping the lap birds. I would like to re home a couple ee, a barred rock, and possly a speckled sussex if my roo will not take her in. I like her but he hates her because the first time they met she attacked him. Old memory won't die!!! Also a porcelain d'uccle roo and porcelain booted bantam girl. My birds carry chronic respiratory disease (most outside birds would test positive) but i know most people are avoiding it so i don't offer here usually.

These are good birds and take food from my hand, but are not lap birds and need more ranging time than i can give them with my work hours. My lap birds are kinda lazy so they are fine being fenced.
